Tea Bun Run - Around the Cotswolds - 29 March

As far as we are aware, emails are coming through to r31@porscheclubgb.com. I noticed a typo in our earlier post which is what I think you're referring to. This has now been edited so it should be a viable
link now.

Regarding supplies of buns, cakes, scones and other tea-time comestibles, we are fairly certain the café maintains good stocks of these staples at all times, especially on Sundays. As far as we know, there are no restrictions on consumption for mature adults. Steve and Dawn (Andrews) may have more up-to-date information as we understand they have visited the Aston Pottery in recent weeks.

Alan, that is good news regarding the consumption of buns for mature adults but what about for immature adults?
Kirk, 11.15 I am surprised you were up that early, my day was filled with the excitement of driving to Oxford, Dicot and Swindon followed by an afternoon angle grinding. I will definitely need to keep an eye on my blood pressure with all the excitement.
A bed time story and some strong coco (living life on the edge) will be a must tonight.
Any suggestions?
Possibly the little car that could...(be washed but instead is gaining patina).

 
In support of older folk, there are some advantages. Just got 10% off at B&Q in Witney being a member of their "over sixties" club!

And yes there are usually plenty of yummy cakes at the cafe (speaking from much experience).
 
Steve, I would find it much more beneficial to get 20% off Porsche parts than 10% at B&Q. Can you get the arrangements made please? Any way Steve did not realise you were of that age.

James, I got up so early this morning as I was so excited about reading your latest post. But tonight your news exceeded all expectations (with the result that I am going to find it difficult to get to sleep) with visits today to Didcot AND Swindon followed by OMG angle grinding!!!!! Such an exciting and eventful life. Have you tried watching paint dry or cleaning that dirty engine bay of yours.....sorry I slipped into that topic again? By the way who is "Patina" sounds like one of those names new age travelers give their offspring?

Kirk, thanks for the info about the coco clinic in oxford. Things are getting bad I was going to move on to the hard stuff Horlicks definitely time to sort the problem out.
And yes another full exciting day today after more angle grinding I will be moving on to drilling holes and even bolting things together. Oh the excitement I am up early eager to start.
Patina is doing well as are her siblings Karorn and Phlattyre.
Also take the buns off its no way to dress.

I am sorry that I have not been able to keep the correspondance up to date. It is so tiring getting out of bed at midday that I have to have lie down in the afternoons and sometimes this sleep runs on into the evening and between sleeping and eating I have little time for the less important things in life. Reference the buns in your last post: James it depends where you wear the buns. Remember what was rumoured about Elvis Presley and a bratworst? Glad you have progressed on to drilling but a natural development would be boring. Just realised you have already got there.

I had wondered but I understand it is very tiring sleeping alot people don't realise that it takes alot of rest to build up the energy to sleep for long periods.
Regarding the boring I have got that to perfection I tried riviting but ending up boring again. I will just have to persevere.
Phlatire's feeling a bit down at the moment, Patina's beginning to look a little tarnished and Karorn is just unbearable screaming everywhere as you forgot to mention him.

I have had nightmares after the mention of Elvis, bratwurst, you and buns.

I am taking the Horlicks in moderation just 1 cup three times a week. It is so tempting to go for more but I will refrain until I give the car a wash, so no problems there.

Thank you for being so understanding about OAP sleep issues and the energy needed. Most people have no sympathy at all.

WASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a word I associate with you. The buns and bratworst go well together if strategically placed as I am sure you know. I have seen you in your weekend attire. Glad you have the horlicks habit under control. Say hello to Karorn. Sorry I missed him out in my salutations last time so perhaps things will be a little quieter.
 
Digressing slightly from the very interesting discourse on Horlicks, sleep deprivation, issues of senescence and underbonnet hygiene [;)], I thought those of you who are joining in the Tea Bun Run this Sunday would like to check out the route we'll be taking. If you've a Sat Nav or Smartphone you can load the route into your device. For those traditionalists, you can mark up your OS maps, stick some PostIt notes on the dashboard, write it in Biro on the back of your hand or just follow the bloke in front.

Either way you can find the route by clicking here. We'll be assembling in the Club's Cornbury House HQ car park in Moreton-in-Marsh at 13:45 and leaving there at 14:00 prompt. The route is 35.5 miles and will take about 1 hour. After leaving Cornbury House the route is as follows:

DEPART Cornbury House @ 14:00

A44 to Stow-on-the-Wold then
A429 to Northleach then
A40 to Burford then
A361 to Broughton Poggs then
B4477 to Alvescot then
B4020/A4095 to Bampton (diversion around Church View going past Downton Abbey locations) then
B4449 to Aston (Aston Pottery, Bampton Road, Aston, Oxfordshire OX18 2BT)

ARRIVE Aston Pottery @ 15:00

Thanks for arranging today. What a turn out especially as the weather was so poor! An enjoyable drive and good to see some new people (almost said 'members' but that may give the wrong impression) However, I am looking for a refund as I got my cup of tea but there was not a bun in sight. Perhaps the next "run" should be renamed the VD run.......vittles and drinks. James: vittles are things to eat not those little bits of shaped wood that you knock down with a ball.

A very big thanks to you guys and for everyone for turning up and supporting the Tea Bun Run. Your dedication and enthusiasm in spite of the wind and rain makes it a real pleasure for us.

We would however like to offer our sincere apologies for participants not being able to drive past the Downton Abbey locations in Bampton. This was due to circumstances beyond our control owing to the road closures occasioned by the filming of the final Downton Abbey series. We hope the scenic diversion through the back lanes of Bampton provided some degree of compensation.

PS - Mr Nunn's complaint of the lack of buns at the café has been noted. This matter will be reviewed at the next R31 Monthly Meeting under the item 'Serious shortcomings concerning Victuals, Beverages and other Comestibles for members participating in regional events'.

Many thanks from me and Dawn for organising a great afternoon out. The cafe's "cake of the month" was enjoyed immensely despite not getting an "over sixties" 10% discount. Rain held off for our return home so able to put the car away dry which is always a bonus!
