Well, I got myself a Spyder[:)].

I only got to test drive a PDK. The the cars started to sell faster than I could get to them. I went for manual, partly due to limited availability of either transmission, but I was edging towards manual anyway. When I test drove a PDK and then I got back into my manual Cayman I felt, I preferred how I can manipulate it. I would've learned to exploit a PDK had I have gone that route. I pick it up on Thursday. I haven't seen it yet. Can't wait! Thanks to daro911 for providing loads of help during the car hunt[:)]. Much appreciated mate[;)]

The spec is:

Carrara White
Black leather interior (nice bonus)
Boxster Spyder wheel (must have)
Wheels painted in Black
6-speed manual transmission
Carrara White instrument dials
Cruise control
Floor mats
Fully automatic climate control
Heated seats
Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module
Porsche crest embossed on head restraints
Sound Package Plus including CD storage
Sport Chrono Package Plus
Sports exhaust system
Sports seats (must have for the child seat prep)
Steering column casing leather
Telephone module for PCM
Universal audio interface
Wheel centre set

great spec .. very few Spyders with leather interior.

Thanks.

Forgot to mention, i'm getting a sport shifer fitted before I pick it up.

This one is for keeps, whatever that means [:D], well, I aim to keep it a long time...

Sounds a great spec. Drove a manual with short shifter recently and could not believe how little travel and speed of change. Sports exhaust is a must on these cars and white will show less of the blemishes that are inevitable over time. Having had an MG Midget and "B" in my youth the roof noise was acceptable and quite nostalgic!!
Still, not much rain forecast for the summer! Enjoy the drives.

Sounds like a great choice and a cracking car. Don't forget to give us pics [;)].

Thanks, will do. Will be nice if I can get a pic of the Spyder next to my Cayman S at the OPC before I give her up [:(][:)].

Thanks. Yeah, when I test drove one, there was an airy sound with the roof on, as if the roof was off. It created a nice airy ambiance[:)].

2 days to go!!

Welcome to the Spyder club flat6!

Hope you enjoy many happy miles.

Thanks Rob. If anyone else wants to join the club you'll have to be quick. Even the demonstrator vehicles are disappearing fast.

Hi All
I got my Spyder yesterday. Wow! What an awesome car.

Quicker than my Cayman S in any gear.
Awesome grip and handling. The car corners sharply but with such poise.
Glad I got the sports shifter fitted.
Glad I got a manual, when I was dropping from 6th to 3rd in a single shift on the motorway drive home. Such fun.[:D]
The sound of the Sports Exhaust.
The looks of the car. I think it looks great with the top on or off and will take as much opportunity to drive it with the top on as with the top off.
I now know where the water goes, should any rain run down from the 'weather protector' (rear window section of the hood). I always wondered about that.
The best car of the 987/997 era £ for £ IMO
It's all the car i'll ever need. I've definitely made the right decision.
I was sad to give up the Cayman S. That's mine in the pic. The car hasn't put a foot wrong. It was just the right time change to something even more special.

You might like to consider the Sports Design gear lever knob, as it suits the short shift action better being metal. Ive got it on mine with the aluminium handbrake lever. I think the standard knob is very poor quality, not up to to the rest of the interior. Finishes it off nicely.

Great looking motor. Nice to get them both side by side. Just in time for summer [:)] I am sure you will have some good fun. Enjoy [;)]

I quite like my standard knob!!! LOL

Car looks great in the pictures - i had to make sure I got a photo of old and new when I collected mine.

Mine was already fitted by previous owner, OPC said the short shift fit, knob and handbrake was 1k all up. Bet yours wont look so good after a few years motoring, especially if the driver wears a wedding ring.
Yes, Flat6 there's no doubt your Spyder looks really great. Just trying to help.

Note to self (married): continue to own left hand drive car to avoid any potential wear issues of gear stick [:)]

Thanks ChrisH, Rob, daro911. I do like the red inlay on the original gear lever. It's useful to know that there are other options should this one deteriorate through wear.

I've not been out in it today but will be taking it to show the parents tomorrow. So that might be the first open top blast[:)]. It is my daily driver, so i'll be making the most of it. Dreading winter though

Well here's hoping your original knob doesn't deteriorate through wear!!

You'll love your car so long as you don't want to do lengthy motorway journeys with the roof up at "outside lane" speeds. Rain has to be monumentally bad to beat the roof, has only happened to me once. Don't worry about the winter, my favourite journey in mine peaked at -9 degrees C on the Welsh hills - roof down, hat on.

Very few cars look good in white with black wheels. Focus ST's come to mind, but on the Spyder it works really well, particularly with the light rim detail, car looks stunning. Just as well you got the leather sport seats as your folks would never get out of the buckets! have a great summer.
