My legal aid rates are pegged at 1997 rates [and reduced since then] at about £55.00 - £80.00 per hour and I have been qualified for 29 years as a Solicitor. Whilst I do not expect the public purse to pay exorbitant fees, to see an OPC charge double my rates for a mechanic is a little hard to bear. For some reason [no votes in lawyers' incomes?], I cannot re-negociate my fees or charging rates.
Perhaps I should not have gone into the law....
