That dreaded word....

2004) price of a 2.5 as £20,000 and forecast depreciation over the next 3 year was going to be £3,000!!

They got that a bit wrong, turns out more like £7,000.

Blame Porsche - if they were selling the same number of cars now as then (with 9-12 month waiting lists, rather than 2 months) then the market would be stronger...

Does that mean they are set to go down further then as Porsche continue to crank up the numbers and the Cayman out there too?

get a good one and keep it for a long time-thats my intented route to avoid too much depreciation[:D]

The 2.5 needs to be revved - it was the only criticism of the car (and its price) for the first 2-3 years of its life - the 2.7 and more so the 3.2S saw off those criticisms. Its not a torquey motor like the '44 - drive it accordingly and it'll make you smile every mile.

think he would be much happier to change his 944s2 for a 3.2 Boxster, as THEN he will have a supirior car. [8D]but, then if he would like to keep the back seats (you didn't mention that before)then for the same money get yourself a IB 911 [8D]

Helen - you've hit the nail on the head. If £15K is your budget, you want room for two kids, plus a shove in the back, buy a 911. A 3.2 carrera should do nicely.

Jez,

I have a 944 2.5 lux and have just bought a 2.7 boxster. Completely different cars IMO. I love the 944 - it is the car i always admired as a kid, and it has never dissappointed. I also love the boxster though - it feels like a modern car, it's fast (enough for me anyway), looks the part and has the soft top. Fantastic fun to drive. The 2.7 boxster is much faster than the 2.5 944.

Unfortunately the 944 will have to go shortly to make more room on the drive (

Forget about moving up to 968's etc. For your £'s you can get a modern VW GTI/ VR6 or even a decent BMW Coupe which will give same power/urge, rear wheel drive (BMW) , modern interior, and space.

If you are going to change - change for something different with the engine in the back - that also looks and feels different and looks a lot more than it costs !!!

Go for a Boxster - anyone just one in good condition and a looked after interior !!

2.5 Boxster !
