That other place

as far as I can tell there has been nothing in the way of specific 968 events since I resigned 3 years ago (after 6 years in the position) despite having discussions on several occassions with the Register Director about the lack of activity

PS. I have some updates to do on the software tomorrow so it may be down for an hour(hopefully less) tomorrow afternoon.

Stu, put this on our proper forum - or there will be a load more heart failures tomorrow!!

No longer a 968 owner but I still frequent Stu's site - a great place to share info and participate in a little light banter.

Keep up the good work dude!

I will second that, and frankly many many car enthusiast websites have commercial issues. I got into trouble a few years back on a different forum for recommending a certain vendor. The posts were deleted because the mod had a run in with the guy and didn't like him!

Don't forget the issues that have happened on this forum with regard to putting company names/websites in signatures, it is only fair to respect our hosts as its them doing all the donkey work keeping these places going.

Only because we have an absolute "no adverts" rule. That's been allowed to "slip" a bit, and hopefully it will change in the future so we can both gain from specialists offering their advice without trying to be anonymous, and get paid by people who want to use the forum as a free advert! In the meantime there's no issue with workload here, with c. 13,300 members it's perfectly easy to administer with a few volunteers. A smaller forum would be no trouble at all, if you need more help then I've found you only have to ask.

Stuart, I'm not having a go at you here. No-one would accuse you of running the 968 Register badly, and I don't know why you're not running it now. All I've suggested is as a reply to the comments made; if there's a risk of independant fora being taken down why not back it up somewhere? With a wealth of input on these independant sites we should be linking to them, and as a Club we should be able to provide an archive area for free. [8|]

Ironically Paul I stepped down mainly so that I could enjoy attending the 968 events rather than be organising them, as it turned out for the past 3 years there have been no specific 968 events and no real presence of an RS.
When I had spoken to Barry(RD) about the situation, mostly I was asked would I like to step back into the role.[8|]

I can say that I had considered it, to get the register back up where it should be, but I really would like to see somebody else do something with it, after 6 years and the fantastic event at Silverstone in 2007(for those that are new to the club we had 66 968s in attendance) I fancied a break and am not sure I want to step back into the role just yet.
