First post with the dates and venues for the 2011 PCGB Club Championship.

All are double headers with 2 x 25 minute races, the finale at Silverstone might be a triple header as it was in 2010 - TBA

April 9 Brands Hatch Indy
April 23/24 Croft
May 14/15 Donington Park
June 11/12 Thruxton
July 16/17 Rockingham
Aug 13 Oulton Park
Aug 29 Castle Combe
Sept. 30/Oct 1 Silverstone GP

Certainly an interesting calendar that one, Thruxton for a start [:)]. The Donny weekend straight after CSCC races there the week before, could create an interesting opportunity to hone oneself for the PCGB races.

Boxster 3.2S also eligible in the top class for the first time, too. I wonder how they'll fare against the 968, 964 etc?

don't know anyone yet who is coming out in a Boxster - unless we get some defections from the BRSCC Boxster series.

I seem to recall when watching the on-line footage of the final Silverstone race that someone mentioned in the post race interviews that they would be racing a boxster this year. I'll try and find the footage. ETA: Here it is (see race 3) http://www.raceandrallyuk.tv/ Steve Kevlin mentions the boxsters and intriguingly Mark Sumpter mentions he's "building a couple of newer cars for next year"??????

A few of the BRSCC racing Boxsters have been for sale on Pistonheads, so there is always the chance that one might appear in Club. I can tell you that Ben Demetriou is on his way back into this championship in 2011 after a year growing some new buisness interests. Yes, he will be running his 968 again and I for one look forward to a ringside seat watching him compete with the rear engined boys!! -- Mark Sumpter will definitely not have it all his way, watch this space!

Expensive, though, compared to buying some of the proven 968s that are available, particularly when a Cat D donor Boxster can be bought for about £7-8K & the BRSCC control race kit is £3.3K!

There was this confirmed entry on display at Autosport last weekend on the Club stand

Whoops, I have dropped a clanger on the dates for 2011. The Donington race meeting is now on May 14th & 15th -- I'll change it in the first post as well. BRANDS HATCH 9TH APRIL Not long now until the first races at Brands on Sat April 9th -- anyone going to drop in? We do have the luxury of the pit garages and you are most welcome to say hello and crawl over Ben and my car as much as you like. We have new Hartech liveries on the side of each car. NB will also be there Fri 8th for testing, so if you need to feed your Porsche habit even more come then -- that day will be free to enter AND there is always the chance I might have a spare ticket that I could give you for raceday.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

How "merged" are the [link=http://www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk/race_series/club_championship]PCGB Club Championship[/link] and [link=http://www.porscheracingdrivers.co.uk/]BRSCC Porsche Championship[/link] this season? I notice both are at Donington on 14/15th May and Rockingham on 16/17th July.

Good spot, I had noticed that the Rockingham event had both championships now add to that Donington. I must admit that I thought it was a bit odd having separate championship races at an event with such similar cars - initially my subconscious was thinking things like 'aren't they the competition?' Anyway in my book I welcome it as it will give us a true measure of comparative performance AND if it was possible it would be great fun if the top 6 cars from each series then had a head to head to round off the day for overall honours!! -- wake me up I must be dreaming............ Paul

Looks like there is a healthy entry of 17 cars for Class 1 this year and only five for Class 2. So it looks odds on that the overall champion will come from Class 2. Surely that can't be right! [&:]

Well Chris Dyer is in class 2 again but his nearest competitor last year in Bennett has moved up to class 1. Odds would say Dyer will win it again. Is it right? well its not unusual, Jez Clarke walked to the title twice yet last year in class 1 well you know the results. Personally I think Mark Sumpter in a 964 is my tip for class 1 or Pete Morris if he can turn his undoubted pace into results.

Steve -- that would be right if there wasn't a points sytem that increases the points if you score them in a well subscribed class. There is such a system and for 2011 it has been tilted a little bit further towards Class 1 with all it's competitors, seeing as Class 2 & 3 cars were cleaning up each year. AND of course I think Ben Demetriou will be there or thereabouts (I would say that, we have formed a 2 car team) BUT I shall be watching Andy Purdie closely as he is coming out in the 2nd of the 'new' Paragon cars.

That's encouraging news that the Class 1 runners will have more chance than I thought. Class 1 looks like it could be a great battle for the title with so many proven winners in the field [:)]

Mike Pollock from these parts, recently entered a Porsche photo competition with a shot of my racecar going through the rain at Silverstone in October last year. It just got printed in the April issue of Porsche Post (page 51) thx Mike and IMO it was the best picture out of 12 on the double page spread - keep shooting..........
