Well went out for a drive after lunch as i thought this might be the last for a while after i get my hands on the ECU!!

Nice drive, doesnt it have great traction out of cornners in the dry.. Wow..

Also saw another 944 driver gunned it up behind me with his sqeeze in the passenger seat. I was tempted as he was well up for it, but given my chariots half way house state i thinght better not. Anyway he had 18" wheels so more of a poser than driver..[;)](exept you Fen of course!!)

Anyway pic 1 "wheres Danno"

Right.. Spliced up the Boost hose.. Ok abit of overkill with the ties John but it aint comming off.

Chips are in, that really was the easy part.

I am off to do some of the wires and soldering. Tomorrow i have to tackle the DME loom as i am soldering in the O2 sensor straight into it.. Fingers crossed...

Hopefully by lunchtime it will be all back together........Ha ha....... RIGHT!! WHO was that.

I been busy too, I have spent today installing a boost gauge, a AFM gauge and a pod to mount them in. I went for the A pillar option (universal 2 pod from Regal in Southampton as I was passing them yesterday).

I also messed about with the immoboliser 'socket' as it is becoming increasingly reluctant. Does anyone know if you can buy these - mine has a tab missing and the springing is very weak - the contacts do not spring up on there own.

How many PSI were others seeing on an aftermarket boost gauge before Guru bits - I plan to run my car for a week with the gauges in, then fit the guru goodies, I also managed to source a 968 FPR through a helpfull titanic lister so will try this before cutting pipes about.

AFM and boost gauge light still need wiring but on the quick run round the block, looked like I have about 11psi maybe 12psi pre guru goodies (bit hit and miss though glancing at gauge as passing street lights and looking where I was going!).

I also have some nice carbon fibre sill protectors to fit and the vacuum line kit - thanks for the tip John - usefull for joining the boost gauge in - Installed the length from the dump valve and joined into the old line, removing a rubber 'T'. I used this to join in the boost gauge pipe which was slightly thin, so I wrapped a couple of turns of tape to make it snug. will tidy it later.

Going for a drive tommorow (pistonheads Dorset Dawdle 4) if the car will start, then hope to finish the wiring in the afternoon.

I haven't done it yet but I am planning to go into the 3 pin plug from the lambda sensor - It is located at the back of the engine I am going to put in a thin piece of wire for now (well initially 3 to identify which one ( I think there is +12v, gnd and signal)). I had a blanking grommet through to the engine bay so I have used that hole for the wire and boost gauge pipe - unfortunately I had to remove the instruments to get at it - this area needed a clean anyway. It might just be possible to get a wire through from the engine side without removing the clocks, but there is a vent pipe in the way which makes it tricky.

I didn't fancy soldering the DME end as there is not a lot of room to play with.

In the long term I will either solder into the wire in the engine bay or make up an adapter for the plug that will go into the centre between the 2 halves.

Good luck,

Im off out for a meal now [:)]

Tony - pics of the A pillar gauge, come on!!!!! [8|]

I think I want to go down this route if it looks okay as I really can't keep an eye on the gauge down there in the cubby. I didn't have my accurate boost gauge installed until after the Guru kit went in, so I can't say what psi I had before [:(]

I have removed the passenger seat. Much more room to move about, i would never have tried it without doing that! Funny how some things seem easier to others on vise versa. I wouldnt fancy removing the clock and going through the bulkhead.

Bare in mind the O2 cable is co-ax.

I was refering to the the wiring loom being crowded rather than the lack of space in the car! just waiting for the rain to stop before i go out and look again - been for a blast round dorset with a few TVRs, a Noble, a pair of S2's a corvette, a vx220 an mx5 an mr2 and an astra.
My boost gauge hits 12 psi then drops back to 10 at higher rpms, I guess this means I have a pretty good wastegate.

Pics to follow! [:)]

You're not wrong there - I think I might have been tempted by a longer length of Purasil and less ties. You don't need to tie the Purasil to the T piece - honestly it holds more than well enough by it's self.

Well its all done. Finished at 3.00 today.

That was hard, i made a dog breakfast of the A/F guage first time soldering it, as i coumdnt put the tab back into the DME plug, was too fat!! Had to unsolder it and tie it into the wire just about the tab solder it on then use heat srink tube. In the end workde really well.

Not sure how much use the A/F is actually. It seems to move about alot, sits with 3 red 3 yell and 1 green (14.7:1, apparently)

But first outing seems i have had the boost controler up a tad too high, 20psi!! for a second.

I have gone out with a mate and is new video camers and taken some footage of the car accelerating so i can calibrate the Accuboost. Did some 50-100 3rd and 4 gear... Problem is he still hasnt installed the software so its no his camera not on my PC right now []
Should get it tomorrow, i will time the runs properly but the 3 gear 60-100 seemed very fast 6 sec ish. 4th gear maybe 7.5sec... Does that sound about right?

The car is scary fast BTW.

I think i am peaking at 16psi now, then it drops to 12 at 5000 and about 10 at 6000 again will have to take a closer look at the footage.

Drivers seat out tomorrow and get that leather cleaned.

Gauges both working, I used the thin wire method in the socket for the AFM pick-up there a 3 pins 2male / one female (or the opposite on the other plug) guessed this might be power, earth and sensor tested with a meter and was correct - great these German engineers.

Wired supply from the radio so that I din't have to mess with car loom and the light for boost gauge from my extra lights that illuminate the console switches - haven't driven it as I had a nice bottle of wine with dinner, but at tick over AFM starts steady and then oscillates from just in the lean section to just rich - the gauge paperwork suggests this would happen when the engine management computer is in closed loop, adjusting injector time to maintain a stoich A/F ratio.

Driving round earlier today on the boost gauge I got 12 ish PSi dropping back to 10, i think this means i have a fairly healthy wastegate. Cant wait till I have done the guru bits 50% more boost must be good [:)]

Tony, any chance you could post a pic when you fit them? I was thinking of getting these myself, and my car is a similar colour so it would be interesting to see how they look.

Cheers,
Alan

Will do, they come without fixing tape so I haven't got round to it yet, when you order them you can go for weave (parallel lines) or natural carbon fibre. You can also get the porsche lettering waxed in white (possibly other colours) so that it stands out - I went for the natural carbon, will post a pic when they are in,
Tony

Righ getting the clips as we speak. Friend is email them to me!! Yes all 25Mb worth split into 6 clips...

Anyway first one looking good, A/F is working a treat, bang on 14.7 with foot to the floor. Looks like i have a peak boost of 17psi droping off, will have to view other clips to verify.

Will keep you posted, oh isnt it exiting....Well it is for me!!

Deffo a succes fen.. Need to get on a dyno now and see what the improvments are. Lokks like my wastegate is working well.

Right 3rd gear 60-100 in 5.6sec

Is that fast? How does it compare with standard anyone know?
