The story so far.

Slim, according to a 1988 test in Motor magazine the time for 60-100 was 8.1 seconds, but it didnt say which gear. Has to be 3rd as 2nd runs out at about 70 and 3rd at about 120 (I think [&:])

Great so i have knocked about 2.5sec off the 60-100

Prob about 1/2sec off the 0-60 (guess)

So looking at a 0-100 time of around 10.7sec

Thats pretty quick aint it?

Not bad at all [:D] and the same Motor article has the standard 0-100 at 13.5 secs

Your projected figures are now nearly identical to a 968 Turbo S as tested by Christophorous magazine in 1993 0-100 in 5.7 and 60-100 in 5.7 which went on to a top speed of 174mph from a 305bhp 3 litre engine

All projected figures of course [;)] and 944's are about the corners, not the straight bits [:-]

lolss Yes but i would rather have a go at an M3 driver trying to show off to is bimbo on the M-way than on a twisty road ;) Easier and safer to prove you point.

60-100 7.1 sec 4th gear.

Even that is not too shabby..

That's got to be quite quick. Book 0-60 is in the low 5's IIRC, so that would be sub-11's from rest to 100. Pretty quick then.

Lets say 4.8 0-60 and 5.6 60-100

0-100 in 10.4sec... Sounds goot to me.

Cant wait to get the decat Exhaust and another 10-15bhp [:)]

That gaugepod looks pretty good Tony. How did it fit? screws or double sided tape?

I used longer screws into the original holes for retaining the trim, I painted the heads black and they look OK. I had to drill the pod at the right points.
Unfortunately I also used a P-clip with a short bolt to retain the wires - where I positioned this damaged the trim behind the pod, so I didn't manage to quite get away without marking the trim. Never mind I think the pod is here to stay anyway [:)]

I also had a gap by the windscreen, I cut a section of old sunroof trim to finish off this area.

The gauge pod is finished in a kind of shiny leather grain - it doesn't match but its not too bad - many are finished in 'carbon look' [:'(]

excellent results slim, I have a decat exhaust and a slightly modded turbo so I also have a big smile [:D]- Hope I dont stack it backwards into a tree!

Hard for me to say with the exhaust I was away from the car for 3 weeks (2 of which I was driving a scooby WRX at high altitude in Botswana), It felt quicker but then it always does after driving the scooby, it also sounds nice and on occasions spits flame (I think this is a trait of cat removal on 44's) My car was used for the prototype so the figures are on the Essential styling web site (car looks down on power from standard (before and after) but it was during the hotest week last summer which wouldn't have done it any favours. If it fell off or got nicked, I would buy another one.

John,

http://www.regal-shop.co.uk/ search for gauge pod - its a universal pod so you have to cut it to fit ( and then it is not perfect hence the extra trim ) Its not bad though even with my lack of manual skills.
I found there are many others on the web but it is very hard to distinguish between them - and in fact many may well be the same [;)]

Tony

PS when I was at regal, they had a 2 x 2litre turbo engined nova outside, 2xsix speed gearboxes etc. etc. It looked well engineered if a little tatty but it must be a bit of a monster, according to the stickers on the side the engines were tuned to around 300BHP each

Tony

Shoots flames..... Now i like the sound of that yes. I was looking at the ESS one will prob go for the Oval exit make it look sort of standard. Will have to wait a few months unfortunatly.

[:D][:D][:D] When you see the size of the oval you won't mistake it for a standard one - vrooom [8D]

Tony, are your Guru chips the latest version that are set for 18psi? With your new Turbo and decat I imagine you will be the most Guru'd of all us Guru converts

My chips are labelled DME V801-K27 Danno had done a car with similar turbo spec so he sent me those. (A friend of ours who is particularly handy with a camera has lent me a set of the standard K26/8 ones as well).
The paperwork that arrived with the chips does mention 15-18PSI.

Interestingly driving today my car (pre guru) seems to run rich on Boost (also yesterday Jim mentioned black smoke from the rear and it is particularly sooty at the moment around the tail pipe. I did ask Janspeed to ensure it didn't run lean when they had it on the rollers for exhaust tests, but dont know if they adjusted it.

Tony

Hmmm, I suppose they might have turned the enrichment screw on the throttle and forgot to turn it back? Is it worth trying to get it back to Stoich now that you have the AFR gauge working and before you put the Guru set in?

Yes I will have a go at leaning it out a bit - at full throttle / boost should we be aiming for

a)slightly rich
b) the high side of stoichiometric
or
c) the centre of stoichiometric ?

What you getting slim?

Based on the face of the LambdaLink Digital gauge (I want, I want!) here you should be looking for a richer mixture under boost.
