thinking of 968

Porsche claimed that something like 80% of the 968 was new compared to the S2, although I don't know how much truth there is in that!

I suspect that a lot of that was down to small parts like nuts and bolts counting towards the total, and probably stamping a 968 part number on a 944 part made it a new one!

Not knocking it at all. Porsche were trying to string the model out for a few more years as they had no obvious replacement until the Boxster arrived. With a global recession, the PR around the 968 had to be exceptional, and it did sell a good number of cars. Testament to the range that the press loved the 968: with facelifts now every couple of years, and new models every 4 or 5 years, getting `5 years or more from the 944/968 is very impressive.

I looked at some of the better sports on the market with a view to holding and selling in a couple of years. The CS has already gone price wise. The problem was I liked the coupe spec much better but didn't feel as a model it had the same possibilities price wise.
I'm clearly not cut out for this investment lark as I buy cars I like!!

While we are at it, why do my (rare these days) posts keep getting little notices saying "awaiting approval"? I put a post on
another section of the PCGB forum this morning and, that has come up with the same message [8|]! I really need to know what
is going on here? Am I welcome here (The Porsche Club of Great Britain including all the various forums) or not? I keep getting
letters from Cornbury House asking me to re join and that they "miss me" [8|], and, they seem ready enough to take my money
but, I seem to be the subject of some kind of hypocritical censorship. Seems a bit "Two Faced" to me, especially as I thought we
had got over all the whinging. It seems not.

Hi Pete,

Of course you're welcome. The trouble is the admins and moderators don't write our rules, we just apply them.

As you know, people are only put on approval after a period of discussions and warnings. We aren't allowed to simply remove it, you have to ask a Board member to do that. I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue, but I personally broke that guideline years ago and the guy went on to post a load of abuse, and I got it in the neck! [&:]

Best person to talk to is Peter Bull. He's an admin as well as director, so best-placed to deal with it.

If there's anything needing approving urgently then give one of us a text or call and we can deal with it fast. Either admins for all forum areas, or the moderators for specific areas.
