Thinking of 991 Carrera 4 - advice sought

For what it's worth, I have dealt with Richard Lane at West London. An 'old time' and very experienced guy, albeit in sales.
I bought second Boxster via him and took his advice on current car purchase.

I'm fairly settled on Agate Grey as a colour and Chiswick Porsche have a fully loaded demo C2S that's nearly a year old that could fit the bill.

Watching Bloomberg TV this morning, the chief exec of Porsche has said that Volkswagen have had a worse start to 2013 than they did to 2012, this makes me ponder!!!
Have you seen the Agate grey C2S at Portsmouth PC? Good spec and 124 miles!

While you ponder someone else will buy.............[;)]

Seems that most of the dealer specced cars come with pdk but not with paddle shift. But a nice car nonetheless

The ever present problem when it's not your own spec! I wonder why dealers don't spec paddle shift? Still, it's a relatively cheap fix to change the wheel if the rest of the car is up to scratch.[:)]

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

The latest PDK is so good, it's almost intuitive - even if the buttons aren't! [;)]

Changing from a M/F Wheel to a Sport Design Wheel is about a £1200 retrofit less any dealer discount you negotiate, my 991 was a stock car and came with a M/F wheel which I thought was a good idea and would have specified it on a factory order purely because of my previous experience of this type of wheel on a BMW. However I drove one with the Sport Design Wheel and IMHO it's a much better option when mated to a PDK gearbox.

M/F Wheel advantages
- Audio Volume Control
- Single button press for one of the parameters on the M/F display or PCM (you can customise it to select either 1 item from the PCM or the M/F display .e.g.. Audio
- Telephone buttons to answer and end the call

M/F Disadvantages
- Right hand selector thumbwheel is way too sensitive and with the 911's hard ride it's too easy to overshoot the menu items in the M/F display
- Easy to accidentally select something with the right hand thumbwheel when turning the wheel
- Pushbuttons to change gear are not intuitive, Push to change up does not feel right

Sport Design Wheel Advantages
- Paddle shift is much more intuitive
- Separate stalk for the M/F display is easy to operate without moving hands away from the wheel and much more precise to use.
- IMHO it does look more sporty and the silver spokes match the rest of the silver interior trim

Sport Design Wheel Disadvantages
- No Volume control
- No single button press for one of the items on the M/F display or PCM
- No telephone buttons

It's a lot of money as a retrofit but if you save a lot when buying the car it just erodes a bit of the saving and in the context of a £80K plus car it's only 1.5% or less
