The extra value is in the lightened engine components, variocam etc. helping to give the extra 14% power with normal aspiration, the higher spec. chassis components, that excellent 6 speed box, more efficient brake cooling, one of the biggest differences is the more modern looks.
With the new look 911/997 the sleeker lines and exposed headlights of the 968 wouldn't look too out of place in a show room next to it, even though I still think the 944 is a beautiful shape/design you couldn't say that about the 944 even in S2 form.

I've had 3 944s ending in an S2 and when I sold that it was a decision between a 250bhp 944 Turbo or a 240bhp Normally aspirated 968 Sport, I still think I made the right choice.
Any of the 944s are good value for money, the 250bhp 944 Turbo is the ultimate but it is outdated etc. but that and the 968 are way ahead of the similarly priced 911s in value for money.
