they are ÂŁ850 on ebay for the set. I think these are solid cast wheels unlike the RH replicas. Although they are much more expensive.
Just want to see what they look like on a red 964.
I have these on at the minute

Veloce Wheels get good write-ups on Pelican etc. and were 'On Sale' at ÂŁ750 per set around Xmas time.

Good price for the looks, but beware 18" wheels and low profiles on the road ?????

Hi Lee,

I think they look great. Here are a few pics of a 964 with those wheels (well not 100% sure they are the pws rims but look very similar)

The wheels are fabulous aren't they. I tried to buy some last year with the black centres but they don't do a 17" version.

Gorgeous !

Best wheels for a 964 IMHO but I would be wary of 18" but you current wheels look large so I am sure you are used to those dynamics.

BTW is your front spoiler from a 993?

Hi Joss

Yeah I think it is from a 993, I found it on ebay and thought it would look good with lowering the car. I am very pleased with it.

My current wheels are 18".
What are the concerns with running 18" wheels?

If you're already using 18's then go for it.

I'm using 17's and had the car set up, when I replaced the suspension, to RS height +10 which has made the ride quite firm. It is easing up as the miles go on,or I'm getting more used to it.

However to move to 18's the tire wall profiles are smaller from 50 to 40 on the front and 40 to 30 on the rears. This adds to the hardness of the ride as they are stiffer sidewalls. Also tramlining happens. (when the wheels follow the road contours made by heavy vehicles in warmer weather)

Cheers Decker

Yeah i do get tramlining now and again and the ride is quite hard. Only dropped it on springs but my plan is to eventually replace shocks and springs with a better setup, when my wallet recovers..lol

I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread for this, but I will if anyone is offended...[&:]

Any views on whether it is worth getting 16" Cup wheels or are you just going to look a bit silly?

I guess these are a standard size where as the car wasn't specifically built to run on 17" wheels.

What do people think as I might have the chance to get some.

Cheers

Colin, I had a set for a while. To me they always looked too small after having 17s. Also, the car had significantly less grip and under-steered more when pushed hard (on track).

best way to improve handling, drop the wheel size. run the car lower, keep the unspring weight down, whilst keeping the intended suspension travel. Its no coincidence that ALL caterham race cars run on 13" wheels, but the factory sells its road cars on arch filling, fashionable 15s.

Good points Hugh. In my own experience I found the car to feel a bit quicker to accelerate on the straights because of the reduction in un-sprung but slower in the corners because of the lower grip. I think the latter was correlated to going to a 225 rear section on a 16 (the 7 inch width doesn't allow anything more) from a 255 rear section on a 17. So the 16s mean you lose a lot of contact rubber at the rear....maybe more of a factor for a heavy 911 compared to a lightweight Caterham?

Don't forget I am current running Joe90s, I mean D90s [;)], so I am on 16s anyway.

Am I right in thinking then that it will be same tyre sizes as I have already and that the wheels are a direct swop?

I'm guessing that the 16" Cup wheels are fairly rare, more rare than 17s, but actully less desirable?

btw, these are the rim sizes, if that changes anything?

Fronts: 16" x 7" ET55

Rears: 16" x 9" ET70
