I will not be going to the Sherbrooke this Tuesday as there is not enough going due to different circumstances.
In line with the majority on here I should be at Stirling on the Thursday ,but not for food .

I will probably go the Sherbrooke and sit on my own....[:(]

No really , its ok..

I enjoy my own company..

It'll probably rain anyway,

I'll bring a Rubiks cube

And a small photo of Scott that I keep hidden in my wallet..

Then I can talk to him whenever i want

Well, after all the hoohaw about the change of venure, I was very impressed by the new place. I liked it and it works well, plus I counted 22 Porsches in the car park which must be some kind of a record. Food smelt good, must eat next time. I also had a crackin run there and home again on dry traffic free roads, reminded me just how good the Cayman really is on the rare occasions when you can get to drive it properly these days.

BUT ... I did not stay for the second half ... to avoid making a scene and causing Alan embarrassment

I found the guy from RoSPA deeply annoying; his talk would have been better aimed at primary school kids, I have a fundamental disagreement with some of his underlying assumptions, he was patronising, and frankly was close to pedalling PC dogma. I just knew I'd get into an argument with him, so I did the wise thing and baled out.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Rest assured I'll be back next month, and I won't be arguing with Big Peter ...he's far too big for that![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Well done that Mr Seadon![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"][:D][FONT=verdana, geneva"]

John,

Glad you liked the venue. Even I was surprised with the turnout!
I agree the talk wasn't totally suited to the average Porsche driver, though the 2nd half picked up (if slightly!).
Unfortunately, IAM declined and Police hadn't replied yet with Alan pressing for time. They were the only organisation kind enough to help, so thanks to RosPA.
Anyhow, good to see you there. Agreed the roads at night were tempting!

We have an officer coming from Central Scotland Police in June (as you've read in the post) - would like some suggestion from anyone that wants to gain more, on what might interest and will pass on to him before then (not speed cameras!)

Curling tonight proved interesting, even if i spent half the time with my bum on the floor!
Just like yesterday, we've had more new members tonight, which is encouraging.
Thank you for all who supported recently . Despite being hard work at times, receiving good feedback is always a boost for a new ARO like myself.[:)]

Best Regards,

Ash

Yes, enjoyable night at the Riverhouse. If everyone is more coordinated next time then a large table could be booked for food. Maybe some of you know that Alex Knight (the owner) is a bit of a racer himself and I know that he would be keen to encourage a decent booking from the likes of PCGB.
On the topic du jour I'm afraid that I agree with John about the general tone of the talk and some of the unfortunate remarks made about the female drivers. Given the company I don't think it was clever and neither does my wife. That said, it was a good start and we have to thank RoSPA for making the effort. It bodes well for a future talk that we can perhaps get into a little more depth of discussion rather than talk about things that a Porsche driver is / should be normally aware of given the speeds at which we (allegedly travel).
(Noting that Ash has just posted before I finished this) Does anyone have a contact at Tulliallan? I was up there with the Traffic cops for demonstration stuff a while back and they are all enthusiasts. I reckon we could ask nicely for a group demo or something. Contact with these guys can only be to everyones benefit, if you think about it. And they do love to show how it is really done.
Finally - note the time of this post (how sad!) it was great to see so many people the other night. Still not got the hang of all the names but I'll get there.
Cheers
Andrew

Points noted Andrew. I do not encourage sexist comments (especially considering we have a far from 50:50 ratio!) humourous or not.
I have indeed contacted the SPC at Tulliallan (I contacted everywhere, trust me!) and they can't make Thursday for the time being combined with excessive demands from various groups, I doubt we will ever get someone to come over but I feel from my conversation with them, we could maybe organise a night to go there like you Andrew?
Don't even go on about the time....I live in a different timezone. Though they do say I'm Martian rather than Mauritian.
Good idea about common table!

Can I use this opportunity to direct everyone to the new PCGB website. A further official announcement of this will be made.
This will become another official portal together with the magazine for members to access and receive all communications.
I get a lot of slack for posting information on the forum since it does not reach everyone, so in the near future, all required information will be via the site or Porsche Post. I have had some trouble logging in so far but please have a go and let us know how you get on.

Ash

I didn't know it was an Alex Knight place "¦ that explains why the food smelled good, then.

I agree with John. Good venue for meeting up, decent car park, and I really like the idea of regular talks/presentations"”even if this first one wasn't the best. I'm looking forward to finding out what Peter has to say to us all next time.

The only downside for me was that I couldn't face sticking around for some chat after the talk finished, it was getting a little late for those of us with early Friday starts. Must come along earlier instead next time, for chat before the meeting proper.

It was an interesting night,i guess more organised and what some may have expected the club nights to be more like bar maybe the subject of the talk as has already been highlighted. Highlights for me were all the various Porsches in the car park and our Brian(Kitchens)west coast member may i also add[;)] getting his member of the year presentation. Also the track guys, Gordon & co wandering in half way through the presentation made me chuckle as i have saw the speed and skill that these guys drive at but i guess thats on track rather than on the road??? - I think a talk on trackdays would be interesting with the track season on its way.

P.S. Gordon, what speed were you doing when you went passed me on the way back west? Hmmmm.

Indeed a good turnout and nice to see new faces,in my time as RO we had three of these events, one was at the traffic dept at Helen street where they let us drive an artic and cars in the maneuvering yard ,then out on the road in traffic cars.We had a visit from the Road Safety guys who came along to the Sherbrooke same kind of thing as the ROSPA but a little more involved was a good night even presented them with model cars and a invite to join us at Knockhill .they never took up the challenge. Then a night at Tuliallan which had restricted numbers ,we got shown around the complex a look at all the traffic cars (anyone want a list of the car registrations ) [:D] then on to the skid pan which was tremendous in a specially adapted car ,then out in the traffic cars with an in depth commentary all the way through the drive.
To get back to the venue it was a nice place and has the facility to eat and let us have our own meeting room . reason for the reaction was that a lot of the people would have liked to have been consulted more about the change of venue , I think Alan is well aware of that, but have to say we where all very supportive and came along despite some who had quite a long journey .I have found in the past that some thing different always attracts people and lets hope that the large turnout continues as I said earlier a lot of new faces and more females than ever .
