This weeks meets

Ash,

The new website doesn't give any details of our events, other than what is provided here or in the PP, is it not yet operational?

I had hoped that on Thursday you would have been able to provide some details on the drive at the end of April, route, times etc. Can I suggest an email to R1 members rather than displaying the info on this open forum.

Cheers

Bill

Another midnight post!

Yes, website is not yet fully operational. I don't have access myself and they don't have a facility to request password changes (as far as I can see).

I have been pestering Alan for the past 3 weeks to send an email out for the drive !!!! It's hard to crack that Geordie head of his.....
I would have sent it out way earlier but I don't have access to R1 group email (again restriction to AROs!)
I will make sure this email goes out in the next few days....

As Bill has said the PCGB web site is not up and running ,this maybe work but if some one has the time to go onto the site why would they not just look on the forum to see what is going on ,I know that there are a lot of people who do not use this method to keep in touch ,so emails might be the only way and the PP the problem there as you know is the lead in time to organize an event,..as said the meeting was a missed opportunity to let people know of future events and get feed back on what they want to happen that is what the monthly meetings should be about ,. at least keep people involved and informed and not make decisions without consulting the membership for there view and ideas on how our club should be managed ,The fact that there is this amount of posts shows people are interested and it would be an idea if Alan used this method to keep in touch with people as you have done .

The region section seems to be working in some othere areas with location maps and events
Perhaps Alan needs to lose some of his luddite tendancies towards this forum or delegate it to someone else (as has been done elswhere I beleive in past)as he/we are missing a great medium to communicate between interested parties

Dougie, my hint above was too subtle!!

By the way, MOTY means Mother of the Year according to Google!!

Well, after all the hoohaw about the change of venure, I was very impressed by the new place. I liked it and it works well, plus I counted 22 Porsches in the car park which must be some kind of a record. Food smelt good, must eat next time. I also had a crackin run there and home again on dry traffic free roads, reminded me just how good the Cayman really is on the rare occasions when you can get to drive it properly these days.

BUT ... I did not stay for the second half ... to avoid making a scene and causing Alan embarrassment

I found the guy from RoSPA deeply annoying; his talk would have been better aimed at primary school kids, I have a fundamental disagreement with some of his underlying assumptions, he was patronising, and frankly was close to pedalling PC dogma. I just knew I'd get into an argument with him, so I did the wise thing and baled out.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Rest assured I'll be back next month, and I won't be arguing with Big Peter ...he's far too big for that![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Well done that Mr Seadon![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"][:D][FONT=verdana, geneva"]

The highlight for me was pinging a few texts to see who had the best ring tone switched on during the presentation. Kim won!!!!

Food was ok, lecture was exactly as John H said. But nice to see a few new/old faces.

Heh. Cat's out of the bag then? I proposed to Jen on Thursday night. We split the weekend between drinking to celebrate and sobering up to go tell her parents.

Jen keeps looking at the ring and giggling. I think that's a good sign.

Congratulations Poprock! Your ok though, no need to panic with wedding plans yet as your "average" long engagements can last upto 7 years[;)]

Congrats to you both

BTW was it you in Wellington St this morning 7:30ish nice black turbo dropping off passenger?
