Stonehaven celebrates its favourite son, Robert William Thomson, inventor of the refillable fountain pen in 1849 and – more relevant for us – the pneumatic tyre in 1845, with the annual R.W. Thomson Memorial Rally, this year's event will be held at Mineralwell Park, Stonehaven AB39 2AN.

In addition to 'classic' (pre 31/12/2005) vehicles, there will be club display areas.
Bring your Porsche to the Porsche Club GB stand and join the display of modern, classic and vintage cars, motorcycles, commercial and military vehicles, tractors and stationary engines. The entry fee is £5 per vehicle displayed, visiting is free, with an opportunity to donate.

The R2 Pit Crew leader for the event is Paul Fowler. The time table for the day is:
  • 8am - 10am: Assembly (IMPORTANT display entrants, be there early)
  • 10am - 12pm: Judging
  • 12pm - 1pm: Road run (optional)
  • 4pm: Awards presentation
If you would like to enter your Porsche, go to:
The deadline for registrations is Monday, 12 June.

The R2 crew look forward to seeing you there.

Unfortunately, Paul will not be able to attend. I will be standing in for him. This is a public event and cars will be accepted into the display areas up until 10.00. Even if you have not registered, places remain available. For those not familiar with Stonehaven, Mineralwell Park is on the north side of the town and is accessed via a narrow lane along the west side of Cowie water, see image below.
