Tial DPW

I have the Greddy Profec B spec II and am very happy wth it. It is actually very small, just a bit bigger than a credit card and about 15mm thick and is inside the glovebox taped to the top. I don't fiddle with it (apart from when setting up) but it gives me three boost levels. Switched off gives me the base boost of the spring in my TiAL 0.8bar, the Lo setting is at 1.0bar and the Hi setting is at 1.2bar, all at the touch of one button. When I first set it up I did struggle to achieve a flat boost of 18psi but I subsequently discovered that my turbocharger was the smaller K26/6 so I did not have a chance [&:] Now I have the bigger turbo it was simply a case of adjust the 'set boost' knob until it hit the desired psi. Then you adjust the 'gain' setting until it holds that level to the redline. You can actually adjust it to make the boost tail off or even to gradually rise as you approach the redline. Other features are a maximum boost level with audible warning. If the EBC detects the boost reaching this level it just opens the wasetgate and stops things blowing up []. This turns the screen red and it beeps at you (but mine is in the glovebox so don't see it)

Well the chips I got off a mate in the states are rubbish, they just make the car stumble so not happy with them and I am back on the stock chips. What are peoples views on off the shelf chips? I not that bothered about raising the boost just like to get rid of the over boost cut off.

Also Scott you said after market chips will disable the cycling valve, well I have followed the instructions on Lindsey racing site and blocked the cycling valve off so will this matter?

Not really only in the sense that the standard ECU chips will be controlling the cycling valve and if they don't see the expected response then they will assume something is wrong and the overboost may be initiated. My car whilst on stock chips only overboosted on very cold mornings. Any other time and it ran fine. You can get chips from Promax (which I have), MaxHP in the states and Vitesse also in the states.

I would second the feedback on Vic from Pauer Tuning - a true enthusiast who is v knowledgeable, operating out of his (porsche 944T filled) garage, I have acquired a few bits and bobs from him. Both the service and the advice have been excellent. Note that he can also supply MaxHP chips if you're after them... he's on the web.
