Yes, it is a colour that isn't 'in your face'. Rich and classy (so totally the opposite to the owner!)[]
Cheers,
I have just put a deposit on a RHD Cobalt blue Carrera 4 with light grey sports leather, hoping to collect on Saturday. The sharper eyed among you may have noticed that a Carrera 4 doesn't run boost and therefore sucks, all I can say is it was significantly cheaper than a 965, I had reason to be in the north west of England today and "watch this space" []

On the subject of the 965, it was a prototype which was axed and looked like a 964 turbo S. Because the 964 turbo S looked like the 965 the S got the nickname 965 and it then stuck to the 964 turbo as well.
965 had a completely different engine to a 964 turbo.
Unfortunately some of us were trained on the 965, as it was so close to actually being a product.... but then a bean counter ended up in charge of Porsche for a while and the 965 was one of several casualties of the bean counters axe... Some would say that the bean counter saved Porsche, which may well be true.
The part numbers which begin with 965 tend to be either right hand drive versions of 964 parts or in some cases parts designed for the axed prototype.

have told myself this is how the car was intended
Looked at 911`s a long time ago. Couldnt stand the offset (close) pedals on RHD due to the wheel arch intrusion
LHD have the pedals in the correct place IMO and therefore is an easier drive
Edited to say that it looks the dogs danglies in red, whatever you get, good luck and safe driving.
More modern variants may be better??
This is not an everyday car, but neither is it a track car for me therefore it must be a road car (or a garage queen I guess) and I just think RHD is much more usable on the road. LHD would be a pain to use as an occasional alternative to the hearse as for example I wouldn't be able to raise the barrier to get out of the car park at work without a lot of hassle. I did seriously consider LHD, but ultimately it just felt like a big compromise that I would likely always regret. I say this from the experience of 3 LHD cars in the past, not just an unrealistic assumption.
My plan is to pick it up on Saturday and drive it home where I will have to leave it alone as it's slightly overdue for a service (bang on the miles but 15 months rather than 12) and that can't be done for a week. I'll rectify anything that is wrong with it straight away and probably fit a cat bypass and G-pipe to the exhaust. Provided there are no huge bills I'll just cut straight to a set of KW Variant 3 coilovers for it, probably with a 964 Turbo ARB on the back to induce it to oversteer a bit.
I intend to run it like that for a month or two apart from keeping my eyes open for some Cup 1 wheels, getting a bumper scuff painted and fitting some teardrop mirrors I got on the 'Bay. If it seems to be a sound one then around Christmas I intend to fit the Ninemeister supercharger kit for 320-330bhp and gobs of low down torque.
It looks just like this one: (primarily because that is it)
