Huge thanks to Des for the project.. should keep me busy I am amazed at the interior I have never see Blue before nor in such good condition to be honest..

Ops broke the sun roof already well it was bodged ( not by Des BTW ) So added that to the list.

but long old day yesterday after Des I went to kent to pick up some thing else and I was home for 1am.

So thanks to Des and his mate for helping me get the car back on the trailer and for the cup of tea! it was a smooth run home car balanced perfectly on the back of the trailer with just the right amount of nose weight.

Attracted the attention of the Kent Police as i was in a traffic jam on the m20 , I think he was just checking I had not just nicked the car.. " yours? "

" yes just bought it "

" Ok then.... "all at 10mph in a traffic jam and off he went with a thumbs up.. ( after talking on his radio I guess to do a PNC check ) Good to know they are checking classic cars, with recent number of stolen cars.

Thanks Des.. 18 owners! wow that made interested reading

Mark,

It looks like a real steal. I'm sure you'll have it absolutely perfect within a couple of weeks.

Hi Mark,

Glad car has gone to a good new home .... wanted to give the 944 Club Members here the chance, as opposed to the Pistonheads wheel kickers, good honest car just needs some small fettling. Sorry about the roof, despite a certain specialist pocketing the total insurance pay out, it would now seem the most expensive roof in Porsche history!

Once I had the car home and being assured that it was tip top the garage having checked everything, I then proceeded to pay another ÂŁ1000 to a reputable local garage, who did go through the car, full service, etc ... Car covered 1 mile since and sat on the drive, what a waste.

Good luck Mark, well done and enjoy mate. Sorry Rav and others did try and get back through the PM system, Mark did call me ...... Best handling Porsche I have driven, engine in right place with rear wheel drive, 50/50 weight distribution.

That's reassuring to know - there has been an increase in thefts it seems lately - some quite blatantly open ones too!

Enjoy your new toy! [8D]

Today I was going to work on the 944, but its very windy so went kitesurfing instead! Force 7 gusting 40 knotts way epic. But tonight to show a copper mate my new purchase, started it up, tappets going going going arrrrr quiet silky smooth. Back to normal. So tomorrow I am going to mop up the car. Get it ready for its mot.
So the tapping was just long term storage. Ordered two new tyres and a battery. Summer is here lets enjoy it. Got to say I love the blue seats!
Once again Des huge thanks, going to enjoy tinkering away.

I managed to start on this yesterday for a few hours

I got the mop out and it's made a huge difference as they always do.

G6, G10 and Hand Glaze on the mop. As you get into it it's had some new paint as to be expected some better than others.
But the mop makes it alot more even. The more I work on the car the more I really like it's honesty.

It's a well sorted ( thanks to Des's efforts over the years to keep her tip top ) car which deserves some TLC to get it up to a really nice standard.

I thought I would just get the car up to a standard and just drive it but already I want to take the front off and bonnet and repaint it. Before I know it, it's become a mini resto so I am going to leave it for now but I will be looking to next year get it in the work shop and sanded back and do the bit of welding I have seen ( drain hole bigger than normal, nothing to stop an MOT ) and really get the paint sorted as it's so good every where else it will look amazing with a new coat of White on it and all the car park dents taken out.

My Mate came round the other day to take a look and went though a few things so I will add those bits to the 944 project link.

But small things to keep it tip top.

I'm very pleased. If I can get it sorted for this weekend Beaulie I will be taking it along.

Just booked MOT for Thursday and ordered 3 new tyres. It's coming along nice. I have also found the fabric for the seats by the meter. I am thinking on the lines of ordering in a meter for the future as the seats are so nice.

MOT Tomorrow..

fingers crossed.. I am still waiting for my new tyres to arrive I ordered as they are really needed gulp! may be if he see's them in the boot he might let me off as I will getting them swapped over on Sat when i can get to the machine to borrow it..

How did it get on? I'm looking forward to seeing this (and seeking you out for some paintwork advice if you don't mind!) Sunday,

Tref.

It passed! [:)]

I had to change 3 tyres and adjust a head light height. The tyres where new but had cracks so deep they almost formed a new underground mine! LOL.. shame really as they where like new but the sun clearly got to them and poss a flat tyre is what killed them.. So I have a pair of fancy directional V groove tyres for it now. And a new matching tyre to the other one on the back I managed to find a company who still stocked that make and so now they match as a pair all bar 1mm wear I can't complain.

My MOT was all over the car.. looking for anyting and he even had a look for jobs for me to do over the next year.. he said ( as Des said ) their is nothing to do mate.. he was right..

I will tinker with the sills to make them sorted and I will also look at the rear wash wipe..

Paint wise will I got to say for my standards it's f****d but I have managed to get a bit of shine on it.. to be honest I am not going to worry as when i get time I will try a 2000 wet and dry and mop back to see if this does it other wise it's just drive it for now but next year look to strip it down and I will repaint it at home. It's white so very easy to do..

I will try Beaulie on Sunday but we have a hectic week ahead of us and my wife who was coming in her 944 broke her arm on Monday so it's not looking good now! [][:(][]

So I may have to give it a miss.. Plus to be honest have you seen the wind for Sat and Sun... Force Seven... car show or kitesurfing er............ laters!!!!!! I was out last week and Force 7 with my new kite it was the best session I have had in months! Jumping every where.. so sorry looking like on the water for me..

anyway here she is..

ready to rock and roll..

OK UPDATE

Project Des as it's been nick named by a few Porsche friends. [:D]

I have had it off the road for the last 2 months in a garage up the road.. As the leak in the roof was leaking with all the rain so much it was coming in thick and fast and i didn't want to ruin the seats which are in great shape. So in the lock up it's dried out to almost 90% so the last 10% it's in my garage now with a heater on oil fired and it's slowly taking that to 100% with the seats pulled out to get it just cooked! [:)]

as it's 2014 I have a small list of jobs to do as follows

One is the run roof!

two is the bonnet release backing plate thingy that snapped

rear tail gate seal

Water sound!!!!!!!!!! [&:]

So leaking sunroofs..

going to go to the main dealer and get a drawing up on the 944 and order the sunroof seals that I can see.. going to throw some money at the sun roof in the hope to fix this as I don't want it to ruin the inside it's too nice for that.

For people who have had the sunroof seal go on them is this the right direction for me

Bonnet plate thingy

Not ordered it yet but I will be and it's looking fairly common fix to be honest I will look to some how lube up the cable and nope this is then fixed for good with a new plate from Porsche..

Will I need to buy the handle as well do you think it looks good still I just thought should I order one incase I break it taking it off?

Rear tail gate seal..

Unfortunately driving the car with the window open I get fumes in the cab I know it's the seal to the tail gate but I am not 100% sure this is the answer in my case.. the pin that locks the hatch down on closer inspection is raised and spacing the hatch off the rear part of the body.. I have tried to adjust the pin but it's rusted to death and I am afraid of breaking it!

looking to see if I can get the whole unit off and leave it in a can of diesel to loosen off . Before I go getting new parts.

Water sound in the upper tray area at the lower part of the windscreen

I mentioned this before and I can't find it again but some one did mention about a thermostat for it might be the issue and air in the system so I will look into that.. I am not sure if I found a small leak in the car when I was looking at the bonnet release catch plate behind the carpet in the floor area of the passenger footwell I think I saw a small trickle of water it could be condensation it could be a leak as it's under this upper tray area of the bulkhead I am concerned enough to look into it.

to the right of this picture. you can just make out part of what I am talking about..

I have looked at the car in detail more and I am going to repaint the car. It's clearly had other parts painted so it's not original paint anymore and some area's are really bad others almost saveable But with new paint I can sort out the issues as I go. Like slight bubbles on the passenger side sill I have had the camera in there and it's all ok in there just surface but I am not worried if it was bad as I have already repaired such an area on my wifes 944S2 from scratch and it was a nice job to be honest.

It's white so I can get away with alot of issues as I am going to paint this at home in the garage to save costs. I will be looking for a new bonnet as it's got some sort of bow in it I think from some sort of accident damage in it's past history as the front lights rub the bonnet as they open so some thing has moved there in the past.

Anyway all this bad weather and rain has not been all that bad it's allowed me to do my other passion, this.
