Im sure that its an issue. In one of the many 944 MS threads that Ive read, I recall an 8v car that wouldnt rev over 3500rpm-3750rpm and the cause was the unsuitable flywheel. I believe that the solution involved a trigger wheel with a MS-friendly number of teeth.

I was reading something on Rennlist about standalone EMS's and they talked about flywheel triggers and that most people don't use them. I've inserted the link below but it is a huuuuuge thread and meanders through many standalone issues with the usual school playground tiff's you often get on Rennlist - some of those guy's need to grow up! So as a very brief summary i've copied and pasted an extract for you to get a flavour. Not sure if it is directly related to this discussion as I don't know a huge amount of detail about the technicalities of standalone - but am learning!

extract from 'evil 944T' on page 11:-
It can be triggered by many different triggers. The stock triggers on the flywheel can be used. If so, a special trigger board needs to be fitted, (no charge) at time of supply. All of the other trigger options are digital and can be selected in the software.

A 24-1 wheel that can be attached to the stock Cam wheel and the Hall sensor fitted in the Cover. This allows sequential control. The stock sensors without a cam sync can only be group fuelled.

The Ignition will be sequential if the Distributor is used. Wasted spark can be run off the stock sensors. With the 24-1 cam wheel, 4 individual Coils can be used sequentially.

I think the stock sensors with either wasted spark or stock Ignition is OK. The only issue is the sensor could fail.

The Cam trigger is far better and will not have any temperature issues.

The thread is called 'Standalone EMS...?' (can't seem to link direct to the thread: http://forums.rennlist.com/)

Hope it makes sense to you and it is useful.

Cheers Scott
I have been in contact with a helpful Canadian who has managed to use the stock flywheel etc and get full revs. His is on a turbo which has 132 teeth on the flywheel so 130 teeth should be ok, its all in the setup....
