Tips on 991GTS Insurance Cover

Track days?

I don't have the policy to hand, and personally don't use the car on track, but I'm pretty sure that 2 track days a year were included in the cover. I don't think its quite the same cover as Lockton (ie which parts of the track experience are covered/not covered) - but you'd need to take a look yourself.

Steve,

Re track day cover, Ralph's post mentions ManningUK and ClassicLine. I can recommend both; I was with Manning for a few years but am now insured with ClassicLine who include trackdays and full breakdown cover (including European), as well as my choice of repairer, for a very competitive price.

After much ringing around, I've pretty much decided to go with Marsh even with only 2 track days per year. They are over £400 cheaper than the best multiple track day cover insurer and two track days should be enough for me for the next year.
It was amazing how many supposed performance car insurers won't/don't offer any track day cover but I guess that their target driver is happy away from the track ... at least in their own cars!
Many thanks for all of the advice and experiences offered.

By the way, do people use the PVTS when getting quotes? My understanding of the 991.2 Porsche connect is that it only needs the annual subscription and you are tracker ready - can anyone confirm? I think I'd much rather do this than go for an alternative tracker and I suspect it will pay for itself on the reduction in insurance premium.

Mannings require a tracker for insured values above (I believe) £65k.

They've asked me for a copy of the subscription renewal.

I use Bridle Insurance in Oxfordshire and found them very helpful. I am in South London so mid risk level and I thought quote was fine. They do a bolt on 5 track days for £500 which suits me perfectly. The cheapest stand alone track cover I could find was £1,000 per day but with a £10k excess and capped claim amount.

Having spent the last few days trying to renew my motor insurance policy I've concluded that Philip Wright & SteveJC's posts are spot on; if you want a reasonably priced comprehensive policy that includes two track days a year then Marsh seems to be the way to go. Other insurers, for example, either want to restrict your mileage to, say, under 5000 miles p.a. or are unable to include track day cover e.g., Porsche's own policy now administered by Carbon. Sadly, I have to say that Marsh's customer service leaves much to be desired though.
