Tiptronic - slow changes

Hi Richard, ZF recon it is the 5HP25 Either way, the ZF 5 speed HP range use the same fluid - confirmed by ZF GB. They also say that it is that old, not even they keep it anymore - all new stuff is Shell for 6 speed and above. Can't find it at ECP. I'm happy to go to BMW especially at £8 less than OPC

or go [link=http://www.oil-store.co.uk]www.oil-store.co.uk[/link] who sell 12 x 1 liter bottles for £70.68 or 20 liters for £108

Replaced oil and filter this weekend. What a nice job to do - NOT!! Old oil was a black as night, replaced gasket and filter at the same time. Used 5.5litres of oil with filter change - allowing for some spillage. Also changed coolant from Glycol based to OATS type - another messy job but done now. Found a slight coolant leak on hose at front. Also removed front to clear out old leaves, birds and soil fron radiators - gave them a very light coating of cavity wax to help prevent rotting. Whilst all under body covers were removed, also sprayed everywhere with cavity sealant - hope they don't need removing again. Enigne oil and filter change - all ready to go now

It does appear to be a little smoother and more responsive to changing down a gear. This may all be in my mind though. It has given me piece of mind more than anything knowing that the oil level is ok and fresh'ish and no big chunks of housing or internal components have broken off internally. I think that the oil level may have been a little low as the sump was leaking slightly as the securing bolts weren't exactly tight at the front. I thought it may have been a leaking crank rear oil seal, but hopefull it was just from the transmission sump gasket as it is still dry and clean for the moment
