To buy or not to buy ?

I say go for it mate .. everyone told me i wouldnt be able to build a competitive racebike*.. till it made 75bhp, revved to 15,500rpm and blew away nearly everything in a straight line at oulton park**.. and thats on the original pistons/rings with no ram-air :) (its still got an ace midrange too)

if you know what you are doing (and it sounds like you do) then tuning isnt really a black art and there's always gains to be had.

*1989 zxr400, 60bhp and 14,500rpm standard. Best in the country is ~80bhp with ram-air and considerably more £££ in the engine than i've put into the whole bike.
**im shit, but the bike's quick

My 306 GTI-6 (its my track day toy) is pumping out 182bhp at engine advantages, and 179bhp at BD Enginering (standard 160bhp) and i flowed the inlet manifold only, it has cams (unknow from ebay) in it and a 4 branch manifold with de-cat and a custom induction kit and air feed.

That's a useful 20% increase [:)] but I am pretty sure that as it is a modern car it will have a MAF device of some sort so that the ECU can recognise it is getting more air and can adjust fuelling accordingly. The 944 has 25 year old electronics that will not do that. Unless it is completely remapped to provide extra fuel to match the extra flow, I fear it will simply run lean.

Im sure ill find a way, maybe adjustable fuel pressure reg, or injecors from a 2.7 ? It may not work at all but ill enjoy finding out, and all the many problems i will encounter along the way. I just want a project to keep me entertained through the winter.

programmable chip and a few hours on a dyno .. its not rocket science.

then again, there's always the megasquirt option. [;)]

It is amazing on track, pulls hard right to the red line.

Jeez, I had one of them as well...

MegaSquirt is definately the way. I cant see any advantage coming from 2.7 injectors.
