Toll Booths

Easy to deal with the booths -0 Quick handbrake turn through 180 degrees and reverse through followed by a reverse flick on the otherside - nothing to it!

The myth of the timing between toll booths comes I think from the practice of sighting a radar trap before the booths and then nabbing you as you go through them. If you don't speaka de lingo then people assume that they have been timed between them.

It's not a myth,or even a Mrs,it's likely to be an evil smelling Gendarme in the booth who directs you to one side after the toll.

Quite frankly, why run the risk of loss of vehicle, time, enjoyment, right to drive in France, licence, holiday, money etc. for the sake of a few mph?

Just get out of France and head into Germany where some of the roads have no speed limit - then [:)].

Hi
Read this link (yes the same one as before) which gives you a breakdown on increments of fines
http://www.controleradar.org/en.html
This is a very interesting site if anyone is planning to drive in France.
If you are over 50kmh above the speed limit then it's (quite rightly) serious stuff.
Other infractions are dealt with in an appropriate manner IMHO.
As mentioned before, providing a sensible speed in a sensible location (i.e out of towns/villages etc) is maintained, chances are you won't feel the wrath of 'les garcons en bleu' - heaven knows I've seen some frankly suicidal driving over there, mainly by locals - esp after 2pm when some have partaken of a 'liquid lunch' ( was nearly flattened on my motorcycle after a 2cv drove partly through a hedge and onto the road!).
Lets all be sensible and keep it shiny side up eh?[;)]
