Topgear didn't like it

Well folks, I have a Porsche experience day in the Pan Turbo tomorrow, that's if I ever make it there..............the track is in Crail which is only a few miles from those silly men hitting small balls with sticks in St Andrews!!!!!

And, if it rains, it certainly will be an experience. I'm only 5 foot tall so do you think I'll need a booster seat, it is a huge car for me to drive!!!! As for Jeremy describing the car as looking like a genital wart, do you think he's had a few in his time [;)][;)][;)]

Will report back...............about the car, not the genital warts!!

Kim x

Kim you will love it. i am only little over 5 foot myself.

Its faaaaaaar too big
I don't know the precise dimensions of the Panamera, but if it's anywhere along the same lines of the (post-2006 model) Jaguar XKR, then it "won't do" multi-storey car parks.

Ok, so I accept the fact that very few owners of such cars (my boyfriend included with his XKR) wouldn't take them within a mile of a multi-storey car park, but even a normal outdoor car park with fairly generous-sized spaces, still aren't quite big enough.

Since the Panamera has been designed and marketed as a 'family orientated' Porsche, a family might at least expect the car to fit the car into a normal parking space...or more likely two!

Similar with the Cayenne. Granted, it's a 4x4, they're supposed to be big and wide - just what you need for off-roading - but since most are only used as Chelsea tractors, they're often what's holding all the traffic up on a narrow urban road.

EDIT: I should mention of course that I do like both the Panamera and Cayenne (but neither of them in white, ugghhh!), but I just wouldn't want to have to hunt down a big enough parking space for either of them. It's rather ironic that as our roads are becoming increasingly congested, we are trying to fill them with even bigger vehicles!

yup i've never quite understood why cars have to be getting bigger and bigger. the 997 is HUGE against the 993 and that HUGE against the 964.. all the makes are doing the same. []
however i don't live in a city and never go anywhere near multistory car parks...i'd have to drive well over 20 miles to find one[:-]. i've never had a problem parking any of my Porsches at my local Tescos or any other car parks. if i lived in a city i proberly wouldn't bother owning a Porsche.

Reading with great interest! I for one loved it from the first day. I believe it grows on you and think it is a true Masterstroke from Porsche. Ugly? No but different. Big? its supposed to big.

Going onto would I buy it? Simple answer is no as would rather have the Maserati!

[FONT=arial"]Hello All.
New to Porsche and the club.
Test drove the Panamera last week and was going to follow up with a test drive of a Carrera. Thought the Panamera was stunning. I have driven many big sports saloons and coupes and had my heart set on an Aston, but thought I would have to give the Porsche a go before committing. I bought the Panamera as soon as I took it back to the show room. Beats the competition hands down.
Saw a red one first and was blown away by the sheer size of it, looked at the other colours and decided black was the way to go. With a dark set of Gen 2 wheels on it looks very imposing on the road and I have seen several pedestrians and other road users nearly crick their own necks looking as we have gone past, including one bloke who didn't see the bus stop until too late.
Think TG is one of the best programs on the TV these days as do the rest of the family, including the little petrol heads, and thought they were wrong about the looks, but it does take some growing on you.
Interior layout is a tad chaotic, especially for Sport / Traction Control / Sport Plus etc which are to far down the center console for me personally, would prefer them closer to the gear stick or on the wheel. However the touch screen and instrument cluster are very well done, especially with the multifunction wheel.

If you want a fast super saloon, with tons of space and put together with care and attention to detail, you can't beat this thing. Top marks especially from someone who wouldn't have considered buying a Porsche before.

[FONT=arial"]Will do. Just waiting for the better half to email the pictures, unfortunately I had to leave on business the day we picked the keys up! So I haven't had much chance to play with the new toy. My wife assures me she will send them, although every time I try reminding her she says she can't talk because she is driving.................. I wonder why?[:D]

I have a feeling that I saw something on the Internet about a Panamera cabriolet. It looked something like a Bentley GT and appeared more exciting than the saloon.

Any news of this?

Incidentally, saw 2 Panameras yesterday in Central London - both dark blue [or black - it was night time].

heard lot's of rumours and seen a few photos (which look good) but haven't heard anything officially.

latest news i can find dated March 2010 [8|] http://www.automotto.org/entry/patent-application-reveals-porsche-panamera-cabriolet/

I really am very fond of teh car and will in time buy one if they make a D version, and replace my A6,
