Tracing the owner of a 924.

I would like to trace the owner of my old 924 LUX
Looking at the DVLA WEBSITE it was last taxed in 2006 and i guess on SORN.
I wrote to DVLA and filled in the V888 Form .
They have replied they cannot give me Info under the Data protection act .
I would have thought they could either asked the owner to contact me if he was
interested in selling it or asked permission to pass his contact details on
Is there any way i could contact the owner .Does the club keep a record of
Reg Nos if the owner had been or was a member at some time ?

Will only have old type photo if i can find it.will have been taken 1983 ish
It was last on the road in 2006.
Is there anyone else i can approach other than DVLA ?
I have appealed to DVLA SAYING I SEE NO REASON WHY THEY CANT SEND MY
DETAILS TO OWNER WITH MY PERMISSION .
It would then be up to the owner to contact me or not ?

I can't see why the DVLA would have staff and costs to do that!

It would be a similar breach of the data protection act all ROs and RSs have to adhere to if they were to pass details of car owners on to third parties, of course, but Paul Hedges may well know the car and be able to pass your details to the owner. Give him a call and see if he can help.

Failing that, a note on the car? Or, asking around locally to see if anyone knows who owns it?

I often photocopy all the new keeper's details when selling a car, before sending the logbook away.

And the previous previous keeper's name & Address on the logbook when I Buy a car before sending it away as this disappears
when it comes back (just in case).

If this car has not been on the road for 10 years, many things may of happened ? It could of been scraped, written off or just dry stored.

You could pay for a Vehicle check to see what the status & History is ?

Geoff Reg no is YFC 594V. It was white and a LUX
If you go on the DVLA website and ask if it is taxed it comes up as
last done in 2006.
I bought it new in 1979 and sold it around 1988/89.
I cant see why DVLA cant pass my details to the owner and it would be
up to him/her if they want to reply.

It could of had many owners since 1989 ? so you can understand the DVLA would not, and do give anyone a list
of the names and addresses of owners of a vehicle.

Can you Imagine the implications of road users who cause Road Rage! finding out where people live etc..

I am in NW KENT AREA Reg 25 and i sold it to a guy in SW London /Surrey
area so it could still be around in our part if the woods
It had very low mileage about7/8000 pnly after 10 ish years

924s rr.
I have sent the form and cheque back to DVLA .
I DO not want DVLA to pass on owners details just pass on my details
and leave it to owner to reply or not.

Hello tiskev.
FYI: YFV 594V does not appear on the 924 Register database.
It may of course have a different registration mark if it still exists. I could also search by chassis number if you happen to hold that information.
As far as I see, the last MoT expired September 2006 and the SORN expired September 2011

Thanks Paul ,
I guess if the sorn has expired it has been scrapped unless as you Say
it has a different plate now.It had only done 28K miles in 2006. ! !
Maybe the DVLA will agree to my request. It is nearly Xmas after all ......
Kevin

Received a letter back from DVLA .
More or less says althought they accept i have no hidden motive
they will not pass on my details to the last owner.
Looks like i am at the end of the line unless i can get a job at the DVLA !
I wonder if Donald T has any friends there...... or should I go direct to Putin..
Guess I will have to be satisfied with the Cayennes
Thanks to all you 924ers for your input.

[&o]From previous experience I find that you cannot expect DVL to be helpful. Mind you they will be unhelpful in Welch if you want.

latest piece of info .
It only had one previous owner which was me.
Is there any way to check where an MOT was issued from the number !

The MoT history database used to list the specific location of where they were issued, but this information vanished a few years ago, there does not seem to be a way to retreive this information from the certificate number.
