Trackday Virgins see knockhill Sunday Starter day!!

Just recieved my email this morning from Gordon(origin-Alan Seadon) and i have just booked as its only £50 so if weathers a joke or i cant make it then no big loss - Cant wait, something to look forward to.

P.S. Surely i am still regarded as a novice/virgin even though i have already done it once at Supercar Sunday?

wet trackdays aren't a bad thing - they let you understand your cars handling characteristics at lower speeds

Good point Greig - i will rack your brains at the sherbrook again on any tips as it is bound to be wet with it being Scotland in November.

They normally put a snowplough around first to grit the track! Good Luck! Take warm clothes and a shovel.

Does not make any differance when you go to KH it is always the same weather [:D]

at least it will be quite and if the track is wet will give you a better idea as to how you car handles ,it is all experiance for the vovice

Heh. Not allowed to use my better half's Mini on the track until the first year's warranty expires!

Heh. Not allowed to use my better half's Mini on the track until the first year's warranty expires!

under warranty is absolutely the BEST time to do a trackday - I fckd a boxster engine on a trackday and porsche happily replaced it under warranty [:D]

Being under warranty gives you at least a 3 second per lap advantage..[;)]

Ach, the Mini's on a one year dealer warranty and a one year MOT guarantee (it was a second-hand purchase) "¦ and one of the contract clauses is "˜no track use'. Alongside the "˜no modifications' one, it's a little frustrating. We're counting the weeks until Jen can fit the spoiler she has her eye on!

Anyone know what time the breifing is at? Hours are 9:30 to 11:30 which i assume is track time.

Also how safe is Knockhill if the track is wet as weather seems to state sunshine & showers for Saturday?

Probably be there for around 8.45 to sign on then briefing which will last 2hours for the VIRGINS [:D][:D][:D][:D] maybe cu waiting to see weather as im on super slicks so not a lot grip !!!! G

No doubt i will see you there and if the weather holds out,you can take me out in the GT3RS as i recall seeing Mike58's son coming out of your car at Supercarday and saying - Now thats what i call fast!![:D]

If the weather looks ok ill be there ...can you give me an update on weather from k/hll around 10.30 as thatll give me enough time to get for 12.00 07720447901 thanks G

I was there this morning, very wet and very slippy, we were in the pit lane more than on track due to the amount of people going off(nothing serious may i add). My car fared very poorly in the wet may i add, a bit disapointed to be honest in how bad it was. Spoke to our track expert Gordon(GT3RS) and he has informed me that it was more likely my driving than the car[:(].

Anyway, not a good idea for novices as it was open pit-lane format with everyone gunning for it in all varieties of cars,(4-5 Elises/Exiges,Impreza,Vectra,MX5's,Audi 'S's,etc, etc)safety breifing and advice was a joke to anyone who was a genuine novice and a lack of instructors or visble instructors was poor. I would not recommend this type of day for any of our Porsche track Virgins,eg.Kim as it seemed like throwing you in at the deep end and hoping you could swim was there plan. Dont get me wrong,i can see the benifit of this for some people BUT the negatives far out-weight the positives particulary in todays weather.

The Sytner SuperCar day done it so better/safer and was so much more better organised so i would advise that anyone considering to do it wait for a similar format to the Sytner day.

P.S. To top my miserable day off,i found a nail in my rear tyre, apparently Porsche do not fix punctures so its £240 for 1 295/30 18inch Continental.
