ORIGINAL: 993C4S_KO

Hello... any further news about cost of single supplements...?

Not as yet, as per my earlier reply to your question - a presentaion by the organisers is the topic at our next regional meet 24th Nov so will ask the Q then for you and any Q's other members that can't make the meet and post replies here after.
Cheers

Ok guys at our Region meet tonight we ahd a presentation from the organisers that gave a good insight into the Porscheball trip.
I posed the questions that have been asked and the answers are as follows:
  • Issues with ferry ramps
  • None, the ferry crossing has been used many times and use the Norfolk line crossing to Dunkirk - split level ferry that is happy as in previous crossings to site the party on the flat level deck - however several GT3's have used the ramps and got off & on with no probs
  • membership req.
  • Not essential as Porscheball is an independant organisation - but as we are a party booking through PCGB membership is preferred.
  • Supplements charges/discounts for single occupancy
  • Price will be the same for one person in a single room as two in either a twin or double
  • space for spare rims in support vehicle
  • No
Other useful info to get the discounted price a non-refundable £50 deposit req'd by end of Dec 2009 to secure a place. Normal price is £300 p/p (£600 p/car based on two per car per room.)
For further info see - http://www.porscheball.com/#

Hope that this answers all the q's - cheers

Thanks for the update..
I find the lack of spare being carried by the support vehicle rather disappointing [&:] I'd expect the most likely issue to happen on a trip is a flat tyre...
It just makes me wonder what the support vehicle actually is ?- a free ride for the 'mechanic' [;)]

Actually reading the original thread is does say support car, so I guess no space along with everyone else - but the question still stands
and no fear not, I'm not shooting the messenger [:)]

HI Gary

Yes I thought it was a reasonable shout from NickUSA for spare rims etc to be carried - I think that you are right the support vehicle is a car with a technician rather than a van/truck with space for spares etc

Are you planning to go?

Im torn between this and a trip and a run to classic le mans...... I think that one of the Scottish regions are organising a trip there, but Im not sure of the specifics - space and if its open to members from other regions etc

Im keen to do the ring at some point and just need to make my mind up swiftly to get the '09 prices -
oh for a bit more free time!

Cheers
Adam

Booked on it with a friend who is about to join the club, Mike P. on the list of attendees. Taking his 997.

Angela and myself have also booked, we're taking the 968 - as this has room for a full size spare in the rear hatch. In fact I may even take a spare front and a spare rear - that way all eventualities are covered [;)]

Best you all check your insurance for driving on the Nurburgring, because it is unlikely any on your UK Insurance policies will cover you on the tourist days.

Best you all check your insurance for driving on the Nurburgring, because it is unlikely any on your UK Insurance policies will cover you on the tourist days.

UK law prohibits an insurer from excluding minimum level (3rd party) cover in an EU country on any road/place where mandatory cover is required by law. Hence, everyone has 3rd party cover on the Nordschleife even if your policy or certificate purports to exclude it. Your insurer will pay 3rd party costs including armco damage. Insurers have paid out to the 3rd party in every single case.

Also a little good news. i have purchased another 10 places with the hotel and ferry company so we have another 10 places (for pcgb and my own club use only) at the discounted price. First come first served. Thats still £450 per car. Rob

Hi guys, We now also have an ARD'S instructor who will be along on the trip, He will be available both days for anyone who would like a little track instruction. Places will be limited due to time, so slots will be on a first come first served basis. each slot is for one full lap of the Nurburgring and Merv will be alongside you in your own car. The cost per slot is £20 with 12 slots on sat and 12 on sun. These places are already filling fast. If you would like to book one please contact me 0121 559 3183 or email me rob@pbcmotorsport.co.uk

Also here's a link to a law firm in leeds that deals with claims at the Nurburgring. this is the page that spells out the law and the Nordschleife
