Plans are well advanced for the above event.
We aim to start from The Triton at Brantingham which is 11 miles west of Hull and 5 minutes from the dual carriage way which is the continuation of the M62. This means that you get the opportunity for a quick drive to the start which is scheduled to be 1030 with cars departing at 60 sec. intervals ( we will try and set off locals first if anyone from a distance needs a lie in ). Autoroute indicates that Sheffield is 56 mins away and Harrogate just over the hour so there is no excuse, Randolph and Oliver, for your not being there!
The event is c. 83 miles over some interesting roads - there will be a coffee stop halfway through and we will finish in Malton where there will be arrangements re. parking and food ( there will be a full announcement about this in the next week ). This will allow you to have another quick drive home down the A64 or across the Wolds.
For those who are not familiar with tulips it is simply a case of using your odometer plus the junction diagrams which we will provide for you along with your brain, to work out which way to go. The day is designed to be social and NOT set off TOO many domestics between driver and navigator.
This is a strictly non competitive - non timed event and as such will not compromise your insurance cover. The roads have been checked to ensure that grounding should be no issue.
The Triton will be open to serve excellent coffee and bacon/sausage sandwiches from 1000 ( cost c. £4.50 per head ) and has a large car park.
To conclude our catering negotiations in Malton we really need a show of hands about who would like to come - the more that come the better rates probably available. With that in mind could I ask anyone who is pretty sure they are going to be there to reply via this thread indicating how many people are likely to be with them. Whilst Acts of God can preclude any of us from attending events we would gently suggest that rain doesn't fall in to that category and would ask any of you indicating that you will come to consider bringing your mile muncher if you don't want to get your Porsche wet!
There appeared to be a lot of support at the meeting last night for what should be a really enjoyable and sociable do - so please let us know asap if you would like to take part.
If anyone has any q's please either post them on here or send them directly to me ( via my profile ).
That's it - let's hear from you.
Andrew and Steve.
