Essential Styling do an oval or twin pipe back box that several of us have. These are manufactured by Janspeed and should keep you within the 98dB level of most Track Days. They are cheapish for what they are and good quality.

You could also try Stuart at K300.

Hayward & Scott in Basildon will do you a semi bespoke solution - it wont be cheap though.

IIRC Blueflame Racing also have a SS offering for the Turbo at a reasonable price. Blueflame also make Mongoose exhausts so should know what they are talking about.

Be cautious buying exhausts from The States, particularly pipes on the off side as they don't need to make room for steering racks on the US cars. [8|]

Hi Jeremy, sorry to hear of your woes (or should that be blows - sorry )

The 944T exhaust is made up of many pipes and boxes the main two of which are the rear box and the front pipe. It sounds like your blow is one of the smaller sections so I have annotated a picture of the underside to help you determine which it is.

Ignore the coloured labels that relate to jacking points but notice the black text to the right of each component:

If you can get the part number try Douglas Valley breakers mate. I got a crossover pipe from them in a day or two. They are not cheap though. I guess because they know how desperately you need it!!! []

Blimey! Thanks for that diagram, no wonder TWG was so cagey when I called them, I assumed it was just the usual bit of bent gas pipe!
I think I might see if I can run it over to them in the morning to give it a poke with a sharp stick and determine where the issue lies.

It's also possible for it to blow at the junction with the wastegate.

Right we had it up in the air this morning to change the brakes (easiest ones I have ever done!) and started it up crawled around to find the culprit:
It is the Wastegate Discharge pipe (thanks again for the diagram!)

I will fish around on the web for a replacement and get my local garage to swap it over one day this week, now wonder it made so much noise on full boost! (gaining the attention of our local boys in blue...)

Right, just ordered one from OPC Harston, £88+vat, they have called me back and offered the seal & bolt kit for £45, which I have gone for as I have no idea what the existing ones will be like after 22 years and 199k miles. Has to be shipped from germany so will take 4-5 days
TWG have quoted £60 to fit (if the bolts come out OK), but are struggling to fit me in next Saturday. It has just been pointed out to me that the serviceman at the Railway station did have an ex OPC mechanic in there as well as an ex 944 & 968 owner, so I will give them a call this afternoon as that would be perfect from a logistics point of view

You 'should' have no problems using someone with no 944 experience, it is simply a pipe with bolts at each end that are unbolted and then reattached. You could do it yourself with axle stands but if one or more of the bolts are seized you'll need a big breaker bar and a jar of Popeyes spinach beforehand []

The OPC quoted me £350+Vat to do the job![]

I have booked it into my local Serviceman at the Railway Station, an ex-968 owning friend of mine reminded me that the manager used to have a 944 Turbo and one of the mechanics is ex-OPC, so it will go there on Monday.

The short pipe next to that went on mine, a friend of my brothers (who works for a manufacturer of aircraft parts) welded it back - apparently when originally welded they used the wrong wire or rod so it was too brittle - still after 17 years and c150k miles it didn't do too bad, he welded it back up - better than new for a fiver

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

My wife just called me saying that the part she had just picked up for me was much smaller than expected....I called them and found that they had ordered the pipe between the wastegate and the one that I had ordered!!!![]
The part I wanted is in Germany and is priced at £280+vat.......

sooo, I have just ordered the secondhand one off eBay and have crossed everything I have 2 of that it comes in time for Monday!

Just had a call from the garage, all done, they have charged me £177 inc vat for 3 hour's work, so about what the OPC said it would take!
Will see how it drives when I get home tonight!

They did tell me that I had an oil leak, I said 'Only one? There is at least 4!'
