Turbo

So ... following the Wales weekend, I went to Cambridge OPC today and had a lovely 1.5 hours in their Turbo PDK.

Four words can really describe the experience: Oh. My. *******. God.

I seriously cannot believe how fast the car is. Fast beyond comprehension. Does your brain get used to processing information that quickly? Right now I would go so far as to say that anyone who thinks a standard Turbo is not enough, or that they need a Turbo S or a tuned Turbo must be off their heads [:D] (no offence Tom, Clive, Alex et al). I'm sure it's just a case of getting used to it like I got used to my current 3.6, but you can all safely rest assured that the search is now well and truly on for 'the right car'. OPC Cambridge are trying to talk me out of Aqua Blue on a resale angle (partly because they want to sell me a black one I expect); are they right - is Aqua Blue a bit of a no-no? I do like Meteor Grey and Black is nice ... but I don't want to spend my whole life cleaning the damn thing.

Are there any must-haves in terms of spec? The real basics that I want are:

PDK
Coupe
Sports Seats (are the adaptive seats worth having?)
No sunroof
Bose/iPod connection is all standard on the gen2 turbo, right?

Thanks

You little tinker! I know someone who has this one......

Perhaps you might like to make him an offer![:D]

PS Edit Aqua Blue was my second choice - I think it looks fab and never mind about the resale nonsense.
Sport Chrono is a must so that you get the overboost and launch and stuff. Mine has torque vectoring and the dymanic engine mounts but not a "must-have"

Your choice , enjoy the colour you want, there will always be someone who wants your colour.
Is there much different between the Turbo and the S on the second hand market ?, the ceramics are nice to have , no nasty brake dust to keep cleaning off.
These PDK Turbos are very quick , 3 digits come very quick.
Good luck with your search.

Steve

You have to love the OPC trying to spec up a car for their choice [;)]
By a car you want Matt, in a colour you'll enjoy- and I'd enjoy an Aqua Blue :p:p

I had the same with the spec on this one and my choice... they warned me I'd be punished on trade in, however the previous car was their spec(black on black) and they said that black on black was so popular it wasn't worth any more!!
In the big picture the loss of a couple of grand for a car you enjoy is small change...

Big spec option is Sports Chrono, I have and love adaptive seats and after SC and heated seats thats my next checklist- however the newer sports seats may be as good [:)]

I'm sad or even pleased to say, Yes you get used to and addicted to that grunt [8D]
This could cost you a lot of handbags!!! [sm=kiss.gif]

garyw

no more rings
no more handbags
no more shoes
no more anything
i won't have any money left when i'm done with this. meeting up with you lot is an expensive habit. [:D]

Don't worry about your brain processing information quickly enough. It will take a few miles but by the time mine was "run-in" (1500 miles or thereabouts) I had progressed from just pointing it and hanging on when I pressed the throttle hard to actually started driving it. That gives you the insight to these lucky folk with the Turbo S; once you get used to the power of the new car you start to want more! Buy a 997 tt and have fun!

pointing it and hanging on

That is exactly what the test drive felt like. I'm pretty sure Captain Kirk told Scotty to engage the warp drive at the same time I hit the loud pedal. I may have arrived back at the OPC before I left.

Here's one I can vouch for.

Nice colour too! [;)]

If you go for full throttle at night it seems a bit like the Milllenium Falcon (original Star Wars) when they go to light speed - all the lights flash past like the stars! Even now, 4 and a bit years of ownership on from my first drive, I still find the power exhilarating and it produces a VERY broad grin across my face - but it doesn't mean that I don't covet the power of the Turbo S :) !

Does for me Matt?

Try this one - same car![;)]

ah yes i've seen that one - but it's that slightly gay blue ... [:D][:D][:D]

New York is easy; point them at Tiffanys with a load of used $20 notes - then leave [;)]

I think a load of $100 bills might be more appropriate.........[&:]

http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Default.aspx?mcat=148210

I was in there a few weeks back..............more staff than customers and no prices on the items.......[:D]

Anyway, is the one further up the page in Aqua the sort of thing you're after Matt?

I'm debating on which car I'd go for out of the new 991 S (Cab if they are not too long coming out) or a demo/less than a year old Turbo Cab.
I'm not sure as I really like the new 991 and the 991 Turbo apart from being ages away, will probably be out my price range.

New 991 S or 997 Turbo?
And apart from the extra power, PCCB and some other bits and bobs - in the REAL world is there much difference between the Turbo and Turbo S apart from the performance advantage (must be a small advantage though)?

Decisions, decisions!!!

Then I gotta convince the wife [&:]

And I can vouch for the turbo s being even more wild.....it is quite amazing how quickly you pick up speed without any drama.......
