Paul, what sold the Toyos to me was the guy with the motec 964RS in the speed championship...Arrived in toyo shod 64RS, did the 3 runs up the hill....finished 1 sec behind 9m's awesome CS......Guy then drove the car home....so they seemed fine for road use and ready for action..............

of course this doesn't mean I personally will be any quicker in the real world and will have to start making excuses when the track season gets underway [:D]

Wow, that sounds good. I think I will get these tyres next.

I have not yet tried mine on track, Oulton will be the first opportunity. They are a handfull when very cold on the road, I did few hundred miles over Christmas and they needed much more respect than my previous Pirelli PZeros.

not sure if this is the same for the toyos we're all talking about here but certainly the toyos that were alternatives to the advans i used to run on the lotus had to be run at a higher pressure because the sidewall construction was not as rigid.....don't know if this applies to all toyos...any thoughts Agent O ?

Ben, that is the case with these R888...suggestion seems to be nearer 34 hot rather than 32 hot...I was curious at the softer sidewall,,but from what I have seen they appear to perform very well on track and may even make the road journey to the circuit marginally better.

AM RUNNING THEM ON ADVICE OF STEVE THE FITTER SLIGHTLY HIGHER............33 and 36 ; MSC WERE BUILT TO RUN AT 36 HOT , NOT EVERYONE DOES BUT THAT WAS MICHELINS ACTUAL INSTRUCTION...............WAS GOOD ON THE BIG BOY ;BLUTO NOT QUITE SO GREEDY GOBBLING 'EM UP , WENT HIGHER ON 888 S, DID NT LIKE MAY EVEN DROP ANOTHER POUND OR TWO WILL SEE IN 'NORMAL' WEATHER TEMPS ....................

I have a set 888's on my car, (Dunlop D1's before)
I've done a couple of days at Bedford (lots of track miles), two or three days at Abbeville, (which is hard on tires) + some continental motorway miles. The tires are wearing better than I expected, although a couple of the trackdays were very wet and track temps' have been uniformly low everywhere.
I estimate that they are about half worn.

The tires seem to offer similar levels of grip, to the other tires in this class and when they do slide it's fairly progressive and managable. (At least with the suspension set up on my car.)

I was surprised by how good the wet grip was, when the tires were brand new. Like most tires of this type, it's no where near as good now they have some wear on them. Also, as has been said many times before, you do have to be careful of standing water.

I will fit them again, the only questions for me, are how they will work / last in the heat of summer and how much they are going to cost when the (expected) price rise comes through.

Mark.

I have measured the temp spread across the tread area and found broadly the same pressures gave the best distribution. I discussed this with Steve at Bedford last year, he confirmed some of the GT3 drivers were also running slightly firmer pressures compaired with the Michelins. I now aim for 34psi front / 37psi rear when hot and then adjust from there. My car does feel better with slightly lower pressures.

Also from the tire temps, I will probably add a little more neg camber at the front this year.

Mark.
