Tyre Sizes 8/9.5 x 17 "Cup Car Cups"

All,
Going to use my OE Cup Car Cups for wet track and road driving.

Any idea on tyre sizes, I run 225/40 and 265/35 Toyo 888s on the 18" Speedlines.....the car has a very neutral balance with these sizes.

Also suggestions on tyre type/target price (want to avoid getting fleeced - still smarting from paying for the 888s!)

Thanks,
Kevin.

Use 225/45 x 17 front and 255/40 x 17 rear. Watch that you need the original 21mm spacers for the rear due to the offset. Neutral balance no problem with these sizes, it depends on the set up (ARB, camber, toe in, corner weighing, etc.) Not too much experience with wet weather tyres. Hope that helps, Hacki P.S.: These sizes are also the recommendation of the factory for road legal Cup cars.

I have a pair of spacers for you if you need them Kevin . Just give us a shout pal whenever. Regds, Matt.

For the best tyre prices Kevin check out Camskill in Cumbria...you will be impressed! I am running P-Zeros on my 'road wheels' Kevin which I feel may be better than my previous SO-2s. What about Toyos to go with ya Toyos? [:D]

Kev Recommended slicks are 235-635/18 and 265-645/18. Hacki -RTFQ -he's on 18"'s....[:D] PS Has Melanie recovered from the Cup Car experience?? Have some pix from Oulton with her in car.....PM me yr e-mail address and will send. "In a Cup Car, no one can hear you scream...."[;)]

ORIGINAL: rs phil can you still get these wheels?
Not so easy, I have two sets myself. Had a chat recently with Tom Schmitz, he was about to get -as he said- maybe three more sets. Probably for a lot of money. No idea if you can still get new ones. Rgds Hacki

But is that 17" 1990-1991 Cups or 18" Speedline three piece Cups???? Wars have broken out for less than this!![8|][:D][;)]

ORIGINAL: rs phil 8 and 9.5, 17s what price do they go for? are they light
Tom will ask (I think) about 2.500,-- EUR a set, I bought a used set four years ago for 1.200,-- EUR. No, they are not light. Hacki

Kev I'm with Matt on P zero's and very good they are too, including predictable and progressive behaviour on wet trackdays. However I suspect things have moved on and Goodyear Eagle F1 Assimetrico's have repeatedly trounced quality opposition in recent magazine group tests, seemingly a fantastic allrounder providing they are available in the right sizes. I have a set of these Cup wheels in this size in good nick for sale PM for details if interested. Charles

Matt, No, not yet, need to get on the web and buy some tyres......are you going to Oulton on the 4th? Mel/Hacki, Sorry for the confusion, Mel knows my car and it is fitted with 18" Speedlines, however I also have a set of 17" Cup Car Cup 1s and these are the wheels I will be using for wets/fast road use. Cheers, Kevin.

Don´t trust him.... these papers have never lasted very long in history. I´ll be prepared. In Spa you better watch out for a Cup car in full camouflage and a determined guy with steel helmet and that certain "I´ll be a hero soon face" behind the wheel..... Oh, I forget, don´t mention the war. Hacki mitdemnolongerwhitenowcamouflageCupcar
