Tyre suggestions for 944 turbo?

I've been using Continental ContiSport Contacts as they were on the wheels when I bought them.
They are reasonably priced and seem to do a good job, although wet weather grip is much reduced when the tyres get close to the wear indicators - but then I guess you would expect that of any tyre.
My local tyre place was unable to obtain a replacement recently, which prompted the purchase of a second hand tyre as a stop gap - not something I would do by choice generally but with one only part worn back tyre and one almost worn out, I didn't want to replace the two.
I'm afraid I can't give you any comparisons with other makes/types however I would rate front end grip as pretty good with back end pretty poor. The second hand replacement is still to be put on the back so one of the back tyres is well worn so this could be why.
Along with Chris, I would be interested in others comments, as I can see new rears being the order of the day within the next six months.

I can vouch for that [8|]
I just got a set of Toyo Proxes on the Rear of mine, about £88 each, they seem to be growing in popularity, have been looked apon as a budget tyre, TVR now fit them to their cars as they come out the factory, so thats pretty good, lots of the Scooby and Evo guys rave about them too.
I have Contis on the front, but will eventually get the Toyos on too.

However I have heard very good things about Kumho Ecsta's both on track and off. Last year I was completely lapped in a 20 min session at Castle Combe by a 944 with Kumho's (and I was on full slicks [
I think I will try them next time (especially as they are under £80 each)
Have we confused you yet [
