TYRES

987s use higher profile tyres than the earlier 986 models.

The supply of the 265/40/18s has been a real issue for a few months, following a fire at the factory some months ago. The tyres are only produced in batches which has added to the very short , or none existent , supply.

I have 2 Michelin Pilot Cups 225/45/17 in Kinross Are you sure you need 40s?

I also have 2 Pirelli assymetricos 205/50/17 which should also fit.

yes mate for a 928 andi could do with 1 rear as well but i just need to get all mot and ministry checks done before i chuck cash at it how much do you need for the tyres pm if you want

There is some posts going around that if you have a problem finding Continental N rated contact Porsche and they will fund the replacement where you buy 2 and they will give you2 2 for free it is either Bridgestone or Michelins I take it that being a 997 it can only be a few years old.Kwik Kit are doing a deal at present 30% off 4 Continentals could see if they have stock

It's the online arm of National and they quoted me a total of £490 for a full set of Bridgestone SO2 N3 fronts and rears the other day, fitted and balanced. Delivery the following day as they were in stock in Airdrie(?). It's a big saving on the price you'll be quoted if you just ring up a National depot or drop in, but it's the same tyres!

Just had the same problem with N0 rated tyres, the same size & make.
Porsche came to the rescue though, I paid for 1 and they paid for 3 under warranty.
I wanted Michelins anyway.

Thanks for the info! Is Porsche admitting a problem and paying for the front tyres if you need to replace all 4. I have just spend near 1000 pound on Mitchelin Sport N3's. Bit peeved as front tyres would have lasted for another 5k miles!!

TRY Jim Dickson Tyres cumbernuald 01236720205 or Steve @Simply tyres ..... or Silverline .... or Pro Tyres these guys should be able to source for you G ps design 911 as well

I use Continental Sport Contacts on my 944T and find them to be great tyres. There's grippier tyres out there, but these are very hard-wearing and a good compromise for daily driving, plus they are exceptionally good in the wet. Important where we live!

I have Continentals on my 2.7 I run on 17" and have found them to be satisfactory and have no issues I bought them from Jim Dicksons in Cumbernauld village and paid £220 for the fronts inc ,do say you are a Porsche member and even mention the CASH word and Gordon Campbell he gets all his tyres from him .This is the second time I have bought tyres from him and no one came close .
Before you do anything contact the official OPC and say you are having difficulty in obtaining the original tyres ,as there have been a good many posts in the forum of people being offered by Porsche a set of Bridgestones for the price of two .It is worth a go

My Cayman came with Conti's, not a tyre I've ever used before, and I like them a lot. Enough in fact to buy a second set, and also to put them on the Audi too.

I was surprised how fast the rears wore out on the Cayman, less than 10k miles, so I guess the N spec tyres are a very soft compound, and this probably applies to all the N spec tyres from other manufacturers.

PS ... you can borrow my Hermes Birkin if you like, it doesn't match my shoes anyway [:D]

Thanks Guys, Continentals it is then! They're a good bit cheaper too.
Breaks my heart as you all know I'd far rather be spening the money on soles for my feet than the car!

Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N4's on mine.

Great tyre, grips well, quiet, cheaper, but not as hard wearing.

Would you put Continentals on your Boxster? I know that Porsche recommend Michelin's but these things are harder to get hold of than a Hermes Birkin!

Tyres are close to the brink![8|]

What size of Birkin, the 25cm or 30cm, Croc or Aligator with Silver or Gold hardware? Depending on type prices are anything from £3,550 to £8,000 a bit pricy but there is quite a selection of colours. Delivery dependant on spec required.
