Tyres

Chris Hi, thanks for that, I am trying to find out how much to change all four, also the balancing problem is something I have at about 80 mph, I start to get vibrations and not good ones, on the wheel, so I think good tyres may be the answer. I am looking at the Bridgestones at the moment.

Hi guys, just to update, I have replaced all four tyres with the Bridgestone SO2's, and I think, well I now know it was the best move to make, the car feels completely different, and a lot better on the road.
Thanks for your replies

I know I should really recommend a specialist dealer to fit tyres to an old 911, but I used www.etyres.co.uk last week and I was incredibly impressed.

The prices are very good and the service was excellence. They came to my home next day and did the tyre change on my drive way. Very professional, handled the car and wheels with care!

Bridgestone SO2's is what a lot of guys run, Kumhos aldo (not sure of tyre number).
Good luck with the car - hope you enjoy it!

Im sure that would be possible but would req. bigger wheels fitting first I think.
Cant beat the look of the Fusch wheels tho IMHO
Any pix of your car?

I've ran P6000's and am now running the approved P-Zero N rated tyre.
I have to admit that either worked great on the road or track wet or dry.

I've had Avon ZZ1's on the rear and they were absolutely awful.

Is it possible to fit lower profile tyres, or is this not recommended?

With a high quality tyre, the tyrewall will be stiff enough so I see no major benefit here.

You are going to lower your gearing doing that.

You are going to make your speedo inaccurate too.

You are going to reduce the contact patch of the tyre to the road.

I personally see no benefit other than a weight reduction!

I need some new tyres for my 1986 Carrera,
Recommendations please guys.

By far and away the best are Bridgestone S-02's. Sometimes tricky to find, but worth the effort.

Ditto the Toyo's on my 7&9 Fuchs, have been excellent
I have also run Goodyear Eagle GSD3 F1's prior to the Toyo's, also a brillient tyre but pricy and couldn't find 245's for the 9's

I went for the Porsche approved Pirellis on the rear of my 3.2, ordinary Pirelli P6000's all round before.
I can't say they've been any better than the 6000's.
Driven on road and track.

When I bought the car it had Avon ZZ1's on the rear and they were awful in the wet!
