V6 Cayenne fuel consumption ?

Well today was the first chance since getting the turbo to have a serious hoon around the A roads where I live. Serious performance and road holding which resulted in 8.7 mpg according to the OBC.

Fantastic![:D]

Guys,

First leg of my 'ownership' completed.

198 miles of mostly motorway/fast A road work and she has returned average 23.5 mpg on regular 95 RON syrup.

Tomorrow sees Mrs Yves very much heavier right foot take us on a 100 mile jaunt to C Parcs for a break.

Lets see how it goes.

Yves.

Phase II completed.

Pleanty of mixed driving, still stubbornly showing 23.5mpg.

Returning the car to OPC Mid Sussex tomorrow so full report to follow.

Boy is it slow though !

Yves

Thats it,

600 + miles, all done at an average 23.5 mpg. Motor was still fresh as it only had 1000 mules on it when I picked it up. Perhaps they get better with age ?

Enjoyed the experience and would probably consider the V8 if this bonkers govt would drop the accusation that everyone who drives this type of vehicle is an environmental criminal.

I drive a 993 and this will soon be either a N/A 350 bhp motor or a 400 bhp supercharged motor so I am not remotely green BUT why would anyone consider a Cayenne as an alternative to a Boxster. If the Boxster does the job, other than a pure fashion choice, how can a Cayenne be viewed as as the next step?

Richard,

Relax, I was thinking of a people mover for the whole family, the requirement for a 911 or similar in the stable is not negotiable !

Yves

OK - I can live with that.

Living in London, I do get paranoid about people buying these things unnecessarily and bringing the day when it costs me £25 to drive out of my garage even closer.[:(]

Because they are so much fun - well the Turbo is![:D]

Surprisingly don't miss the 993 a bit. Then again I don't live in the city so that may have a bearing.

The V8 I have returns 18mpg town 20- 25 motorway. I do get a better return using Shell high octane it does make a difference.
