Great philosophy - until some scrote drives off with it and you find it's only insured for half it's value, which is the subject of the thread, NOT it's investment potential!ORIGINAL: Supersport Mike
Who cares what its worth .............just drive the thing

For those waiting for a valuation I would suggest a call to Cornbury House....................01608 652911.
Have fun

Not a very professional service comes across from the club. I am away on holiday from Saturday if the valuation is not with me when I return will have to go where I know I can get it within the week!
If we are going to advertise this as a service the club gives for club members we need put more resources into it
Thank you for the comments.
I think the Club has a problem here, if they are offering a valuation service it should be done by an expert in a reasonable span of time (2 to 3 weeks).
It would be better if the Club suspended the service until they can do it properly.
I agree with the comment that the car is for driving, we do between 5 and 8000 mile a year in it, consequently it will never win a concourse competition. However, it still looks good, goes well and make me very happy. This is what we brought it for nearly 13 years ago, we have no intentions in selling it. If the car can maintain its value this is a bonus, it was never the intention to buy it and sell just for profit. The question of valuation only arose when I was offered (?) €50,000 for it on the way to the WOTY, this made me think may be I was still under valuing it as far as insurance is concerned.
I think I will leave the application for a Club valuation, in due course I will speak to my insurer about an agreed value.
We are going to Porsches on the Prom in Llandudno this week end, hope to see some you you there.
Best regards
ALAN
i was chatting with a fellow memeber at a public event recently, and a guy came along and without hesitation offered my friend £24k for his '88 targa (in pretty good shape). my friend was not interested so the conversation stopped, but i got the impression this buyer would have gone higher.
as a result, i took my '87 coupe to my specialist at the weekend to get a valuation, and without hesitation he gave me a formal valuation of £30k. i am due to get the kidney bowls done soon as just showing a few marks, and it was suggested with this complete i should expect the valuation to be £35k! my car is otherwise a pretty tidy, original body, 130k mile with VFSH black coupe.
happy days!
i am looking to update my insurance value immediately . . .
