Hello again same subject different year. My insurance is due and to get a grunted value it has to come from the club which I must say has been very helpful since I joined EXCEPT the valueation side which is pretty poor even though I get back to them they don't get back to me. Not looking for much here am I ? I have sent photos including the milage and still waiting. On another note my battery is not flat now Charles the relay worked. Thank you

Hi Pepe Thanks for letting me know when I get things right. For a valuation on your 911. Contact Mr John Glynn he is motoring journalist for all the Porsche mags and is reconised by all ins company's and dose valuations. john@mightymotormedia.com email him. Charles

Hi Pepe, My insurance company (Hagerty) just asked me to suggest a valuation and send in photos to support it - there was no quibble at all and it was certainly not undervalued. Regards, Richard

I used Classic Line, they just wanted some pictures and what I thought was the replacement value. Once I'd filled in the relevant application form I received a confirmation 'agreed valuation' certificate within a couple of days.

Richard I think a lot of insurance companies will take self certification up to £20.000 but with these cars now going up over this( hi20,000/30.000+) I would try and get a near to a genuine figure for his car just in case. I did get a figure from the club that was £10,000 under the value! so God forbid that anything happened with this!

For what its worth (forgive the pun!!), Agreed Value with Hagerty without them seeing it was way above £20,000 a year ago - am now about to increase it again - will see if I get any hassle.

Thanks for this but remember insurance companies will SAY on the paperwork what you want but it's a guarantee value I want don't mind paying a bit more as heaven forbid they will only give you what the market value or less unless this is sorted out before anything disastrous happens

Pepe, I understand what you are saying but Hagerty have said that the agreed value for the 911 is the 'Agreed value' between both parties. They also have my other old cars insured as agreed values, but as these are worth six figures, understandably, they asked for professional valuations. Cheers, Richard PS you do what you think best, I would hate to see you get caught out in the unlikely event of a claim

Morning owners The agreed value is not what you could get for our cars but the cost of repair or replace The value seems to be increasing on a daily basis, mine because it is rare because it a rust free and never been welded and just been painted is £35 to£45000 but would you or I pay that? Paul

Hi Paul, its not what you would pay...its what you have paid and forked out to get at least your money back to get another IF you lose your car [;)]

Does this John Glynn come to you to value the car or do it from distance? I hadn't really noticed the increase in value of these cars in recent years. Mine is a frequent use and well looked after but not perfect 1986 G50 targa with 68,000 miles. Mostly original. Could do with a bit of tlc but bodywork is almost perfect and is mostly not been painted, leather seats are looking a bit worn, targa top does need replacing but it's liveable with for now, keeps the water out with a couple of bike puncture repair stickers. Guess I'd give it a 7.5/10 overall. And it's insured with an agreed valuation of... ... £14,000 [][]

John quotes based on photographs (same as PCGB) and a phone conversation (unlike PCGB). His quotes are accepted by all reputable insurance companies, including Lock ton. Your car is undervalued by at least £15,000, so get it sorted NOW!

Think I'd better get on the phone to the insurance company this morning and increase the agreed value from £14k to the valuation received from John of £33,500...
