Vehicle Insurance?

Most main line insurers will not touch any cars over 25yrs old because thet cost too much to repair after an accident

Insurance, a very emotive subject. One thing which we must all take into account is that everyone's details when applying for cover are different. It is good to have options to choose from but it all comes down to what level of cover for what cost.
As I am sure people are quite aware the true value of any insurance company is how well they perform when it comes to a claim. Many insurers will not touch vehicles such as ours due to the high cost of repairs if a claim is made.
I have made my choice for my two vehicles this year but next year I shall put more effort into researching some other companies. Lockton and Classicline seem to be used quite a lot by club members. At present I am continuing with Lockton but in the future you never know.

Hello All
My insurance is due for renewal on 27 November 2016. The quote came through from Admiral and I was very happy with it, £190 for the Porsche and £273 for the Audi A1 as a Multi Car policy.
I call Admiral because I thought it was worth increasing the insured value of the Porsche. I increased this to £30000 and it cost me an extra £6. Their representative suggested that I may be better off on their Classis Car policy as the price would come down to £102. I have spoken to them again and as the Classic car policy maintains my estimated mileage of 7000 miles per year, 90 days European cover each trip and business use plus an agreed value fixed for two years. I am going down this route.
To get the fixed agreed value I have to complete their form, not yet seen, and supply several (6) photographs. I think this is a very good deal.
I will update this thread when I have the form so you know what is needed.
Regards
ALAN

Hi Alan,
just make sure you don't retire fully otherwise you'll drop into the high risk bracket and have to buy a Jazz.

Graham :ROFLMAO:
LOL!
Hang on, I can't say that, I'm retired so;
I say, that was rather amusing old boy!

Hello All
Just to give you an up-date regarding my car insurance and Agreed Value with Admiral.
Admiral sent me their application form for Classic Car policies. It was very simple, I had to grading several areas of the vehicle with values between Concourse and MOT failure.
For most of mine I selected 2 which is "Average for age and mileage of car". For brakes/suspension and interior/wiring I selected 1 which is "As new with some very minor faults". I supplied 10 photographs, taken by myself, showing sides, front, back, interior and engine, I certainly have not over rated my car. Their Classic Car panel responded within 72 hours and agreed my estimated value of £30,000. My insurance premium has come down to £102 per year + the £10 fee for the Agreed Value Certificate. This value is maintained for 2 years but can be changed at any time by completing and submitting another form.
I am very happy with this valuation, my car has done 187,000 miles, declared on the application form. My car covers between 6 and 7000 per year, it is not in the same class as Steve & Sue Edward's car. Admiral will pay out £30,000 without any discussion in the event (God forbid) there is a total loss accident.
I am happy to supply a copy of the application form and copies of my pictures if any one is interested.
Please note I am NOT any way associated with Admiral, only as a customer.

I hope this is of use and interest to any club member.
Regards
ALAN

I was insured with Admiral when someone covered my Boxster with paint stripper.
I took it to the paintshop suggested by my OPC who told that they were on Admiral's list of repairers. Within a day Admiral had authorised the repainting of my car at a cost of approximately £4000, based on photographs of the damage.
The matter was dealt with incredibly efficiently and I would recommend Admiral to anyone.

I've used Michael Briggs at Manning for the last few cars.
Some conditions on the policy such as low milage but really great service and a very good price!
