Ventilated seats ?

Can someone briefly explain what these are ?

I have just purchased a 997T and one of the options quoted on the spec sheet from the supplying OPC is these, at a cost of £750 ?!!!!

Are they just as they say, seats that are ventilated with cold air around the nether regions, for....... hot days.........yeah right ?!!

to be honest i have no idea about these modern Porsches but with the OLD classics (pre-1973) it just means there are thousands of tiny holes in the leather.

They have a fan in the seat which sucks (not blows!) air down through the perforations in the seat and does indeed cool your nether regions. I have tried it on a demo and found it to be rather pleasurable on a warm day![;)] Can only be specced on standard seats (and heated seats) as there is not room for the fan on the electric seats, apparently.

Tried and did not like.

I was also advised by someone who had steering wheel heating that it was an option worth having. Not true.... it does not get warm for ages and anyway a good pair of gloves works much better as then the backs of your hands are also kept warm!

However seat heaters are definately worth having.

Thanks, so not even electric either ?! []
I must admit for the money I would have swapped it for adaptive seats anyday !

Don't have them on my 911 because, as Alan says, they are not available in sports seats. I do have them on a Mercedes SL55 AMG and they certainly rank among the most useless of options.

The cooling effect is negligible but I can imagine they might be well received by your passenger if you've been out on the Vindaloo the night before...

Burning question, what colour seat belts?

Burning question, what colour seat belts?

Now there lies a question ?

Answer..........I don't know ? I still haven't seen the car !

It has been purchased on my behalf and is currently awaiting collection in the Midlands.

Ventilated seats can be ordered on standard seats and on standard fully electrical seats.

This is a "nice to have" option especially during hot days if you drive a cabrio with open top or a coupe with dark interior.

I would not agree with the comment on heated wheel. Mine gets warm almost instantly. I find this option pretty useful when driving my car with the open top in the autumn and I prefer a warm wheel to a pair of gloves on my hands.

And of course... All these gadgets do not add to the image of "pure" sports car, but... how often do we use our cars as pure racers anyway?

I have a suspicion that the fully electrical seats you refer to are not available on the turbo? I agree about the heated wheel - I liked it on mine![;)]

Tanya loves them, all they do is make your bits sweat, awful
I'm sure Tanya will appreciate you telling us all that... [:D] [;)]

Heated seats is usually my first box to be ticked..

Also, the heated steering wheel option is not available with the new paddle wheel.

I expect the seat belts are silver, I have them on mine, pleased with them (in so far as you can ever show much excitement about the colour of your seat belts).

Well my steering wheel takes ages to warm and then is only luke warm. Perhaps I have a fault?
