Very Quiet

The Panamera threads are very quiet is that because there are very few Panamera owner members on this site?

Thank you Joe, Do you know of any other Panamera Forums in the Uk, I have found a few American ones which are also very quiet.

I was on the Jaguar XF forum which was very lively and a great bunch of people.

I am due to go on my 1st PCGM meet later this month so I am very unlikely to meet any other Panamera owners?

To be fair, you don't see many Panameras about. I have seen one on the road in the past 6 months. XF's are everywhere now.....
(But if I could afford one, I'd have a Panamera ! [;)] )

With 30 regions and 5 Panameras in the Club you probably won't! [&:]

Don't worry though, you'll find owners of all different models and there's no snobbery about "who owns what". With members owning everything from a ÂŁ500 924 up to ÂŁ500000 CGTs, or ÂŁ5M race cars, you'll find all sorts of people there.

I followed and gradually passed a white/black wheels Panamera north bound on the M74 a couple of weeks ago - it was dark but the car looked amazing in white - was it you?

The headlights particularly impressed me - vast amounts of light illuminating the road ahead of us, and yet they were on dipped beam I discovered once I was in front - with less dazzle than you'd expect from a pair of old halogens.

If it was you, then you won't have noticed me, was driving my boring RAV4!

So there is not much point of anyone being a Panamera Register Secretary as there wont be much work

Well, it's almost the smallest Register, along with the Tractors and the 924 CGT. [&:]

I think that you have to remember that the Panzer is a new model, sold in relatively small numbers (compared to Boxsters, 997s for instance), and I'd guess a large proportion are company cars not owned by Porsche enthusiasts? A shame, as it's an amazing machine that was undervalued by the press obsession with it's looks.

Over time it'll be owned by more Club members as a used car I'd imagine, but ultimately if Porsche don't sell many it'll never have a huge Club presence. Out of interest how many have been sold in the UK? And does anyone know how many went to "professional" users like weekend-hire Clubs or posh chauffeur businesses? [8|]

No i live in south wales so was not me but the lights are the optional black ones with PDSL and quoting the blurb....The system features speed-dependent headlights range control. With adaptive light systems, it is possible fot the maximum range of the dipped beams to be increased as a function of the speed of the vehicle. PDSL takes care of this automatically. When driving at higher speeds, such as on the motorway, the range of dipped beams is adjusted by the light cone, extending further forward to improve visibility without dazzling oncoming traffic.

By the way my wifes car is also a RAV4!!!!

In the interest of saving cost I guess you combine the Small Registers.[&:]

Just let me know when they combine Panamera,Tractors and 924 CGT Registers. I look forward to seeing them in convoy or there first event.[;)][;)]

Here in Formby, there are at least 2 Panamera's & I regularly see 3 other different ones on the surrounding roads-mind you with Steven Gerrard living 2 mins away round the corner & other footballers in the close proximity,it is not surprising-also they would be unlikely to join PCGB.
I do know one owner-a retired college lecturer-who was at the 991 launch evening in Chester & was considering a 991 next.

Hi Ronnie,

Was your car parked in tesco extra in risca on Wednesday/Thursday?

If so it looked stunning and a treat too see.

If it was you my daily driver is a red mini cooper which was parked in front of you to the right.

Steve

I think that white/black wheel combination does look really impressive on the Panamera - starts to look one tough beast as opposed to the darker colours which are more limo like imo.

No was not me I live an hour further west near Swansea, and I think mine was the 1st white with black wheel to come out of Cardiff Porsche but I am not 100% sure.

Lovely silver one in Swindon. Parked close to me in our works car park, if you're on here you may have spotted the lowly red 944 just over the way!

Hi
Perhaps Panamara owners buy for reasons other than outright enthusiasm for all things Porsche compared with 911 etc owners, though there will always be exceptions. The Chinese know next to nothing about Porsche heritage and its wonderful works other than it is a prestigious badge and price tag to flaunt. And they do so in big numbers thank heavens. This group tend not to be groupies but individualists. Even so it is important and worthwhile to have a club register for anyone who is a Porschephile. Have I selt that correctly?

Are you trying to say that most people who own a Panamera buy it just for the brand name. I disagree as a person who buys say a new 911 and a person who buys a Panamera are identical buyers just that one needs a two door sports car whereas the other only needs a four door. I do find it disappointing that there are not many Panamera owners in the Forum and it would be interesting to know how many are in the PCGB and why they dont have a Panamera Register Secretary.
