very rusty sills

Interesting photos. Looks like you have got more than just the sills being done. I assume there was other rust up the side of the car? I guess they will take the rubbing strips off the car before spraying?

Hi Paul,

Having a full respray done and what you see are small "plukes" as the painter called them. Also fitting 17" cup 1's, turbo PU's front & rear and changing some seals.

Still need to re-do the seats but that can wait till next year ...

Hi,

As I mentioned earlier in the post, I am using the bodyshop we use at our garage and as they are doing it in their spare time, I am now paying ÂŁ1000 all in including the refurb of the Cup 1's in proper Porsche Zermatt silver.

I have put up a breakdown of he restoration here: www.944s.co.uk

You don't want your wheels refurbed in Zermatt - it's got a gold tinge and it will look [:'(]

Any true silver would do IMO. If you want to go with a Porsche colour then you want crystal silver rather than Zermatt.

I've been to the paintshop today and had a look at the colours and you've got a point about the Zermatt silver. I've told them to paint the wheels in as bright a silver as they can.

I'm getting the car back on Friday the 30th. Unfortunately i'll only have it for a week then away on holiday for 2 weeks ... then the road tax is due the week after I get back ... typical!

Do you go to any of the local PCGB meetings? I haven't been to one for ages but wouldn't mind turning up one night and having a look at your paintjob: I've been mulling over getting my (tatty) 944 done. How did you get on with your turbo PU questions (something else I fancy getting done -- think the old PU is just about ok when you have the foglight delete option, but with foglights, as mine is, it just looks far too cluttered...)

Hi Paul,

I did go to one in February but not been back to one since. Might try to go
to next one at the Hawes.

The paintwork was done on Friday but I haven't been along to see the car
yet. I'll get along on Wedneday and the car should be well on its way to
being reassembled.

I've been told I should get it back on Friday and i'll post some pics then.

Derek

I would love to spray mine in this colour but I have no idea what colour or even whoose car it is so apologies to the owner

Looks like Seal Grey to me (quite a popular colour for Boxsters/996 a couple of years ago). For shy sports car owners I suppose... (Glib remark made without much thought!! Not intended to start a war!!)
