Very, very new

Chris, I've been using Smartwax's RIMWAX and have been reasonably pleased with the result - it's very easy to use and smells good too. About £15 from FleaBay but there are plenty of other products on sale and I might try something different next time. Collinite No. 845 seems to be quite popular and is also used in some industries to prevent flash-over between electricity cables! Here's an AutoExpress test on 12 products: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/36226/wheel-waxes-tested Porsche, like BMW, etc, must make a lot of money on the options and it's really annoying to have to pay for rather basic options which are standard on much cheaper cars. But on cars like the Golf, VW have the advantage of huge sales volumes to spread the cost of options and can therefore include items such as climate control, auto lights and wipers, parking sensors, cruise control, TPMS and satnav/comms centre to their top of range models such as the GTi. Really, such items ought to be standard on the Cayman S at least, even if they have to bump the base price closer to £50k. Enough said about our dissatisfaction with the Porsche factory warranty. Hopefully the VAG will put pressure on Porsche to fall into line with their standard 3-year factory warranty sooner rather than later. Jeff

I tried one of the early wheel protectants on the wheels of one side and Megiures wax on the other pair, both did the job equally but since I remove the wheels in October and March for a change over of wheels and tyres I do clean them thoroughly at those times and of course wash them each time the car is washed, since I can reach through the spokes with either a brush or a sponge it prevents a build up. From recommendation I'm thinking of getting an Auto Glym wheel wax or maybe one of those in the Autocar test. But the main thing is to treat the wheels with wax and wash frequently to remove the brake dust. Years ago Porsche made a big thing of the same power in all markets, mainly to please the USA market as due to their emissions regulations they were so far down on power and performance relative to Europe! Now Europe is on the losing end, with shorter warranty[:-], less packaged options [&o]etc even people in the USA say this is wrong and they pay less for their cars and spares![]
