Vibration at idle

ORIGINAL: Wills
This is true! I curbed them again today...what is going on I never curb wheels.....

!!! What!! [:(][:(] hopefully the same ones though? rather than the other side[]

I must have been very lucky, so far touch wood, I've only caught a kerb in my previous car- narrowing road and eight hours driving abroad and a kerb just caught the rear wheel. Now thats why I insist on the tyre rim protectors which must have saved a few scratches and give you a little warning [;)]

Ah! I see! I curbed both my rear wheels today at that damn silly bridge in the centre of Marlow, if anyone knows it.

Thank God it's not just me! I'd had the 4S for 3 days and did exactly the same as you - but one side only! And, like you, I never kerb wheels!

Wills, where are you based - I'm in Cookham?

Some tyre brands have more pronounced sidewalls to protect both the tyre and the rim..

Pirelli No [], Bridgestone Yes [:)]

I'm up in the grim north.

I was visiting a supplier just outside Marlow and the sat nav took me in the wrong way hence the bridge incident....

Gary, I was on Michelins - they must be the same as Pirelli - rim protector-wise!

Actually the rim protection looks pretty good on the PS2's esp at the front my issue was the fact the wheel rolled up the kerb and nipped the rim protection and as the wheel came down again it grazed the side of the wheel....but heh ho

In responce to the earlier point on vibration, my 54 plate 2004 997 has small vibration thru the seats and i've noticed this whilst sitting at idle. The car has never been any different on the 2.5 yrs I've had it and it's never gotten any worse .

All the Porsches I have had over the years have done this and I believe that not alot of owners have noticed it. It would be interesting to know if anyone has taking their cars in for thsi and the answers given.

I keep meaning to take mine in but havent had the time, I swapped cars for an hour with a targa 4s and it didn't vibrate, I've got used to it now and tend not to notice it anymore...

I recall reading about the vibrating passengers seat at idle on another forum and it does in my 2005 Carrera. Seemed quite common.
