WANTED: 997 GT2

Which two out of curiosity? Am keeping an eye on these myself, just in case the budget should ever present itself.

Good luck on your search - I've had mine for 2 years now and think they're fantastic cars!

Some thoughts that may help you narrow down the field:

If you have your heart set on a particular colour, you may restrict yourself to a very small list of cars, for example white is much more common than red.

Clubsport is, I believe, slightly rarer than 'comfort' spec.

Later cars have the touchscreen PCM 3.

Anyway good luck - I'll be interested to see how you get on. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

GC motors and Keighley.

GC is ex press car. I drove it and it went very well, just Im too fussy to have that in its past.

Keighley motor is a burgundy car wrapped white, the salesmen / whole garage set up didnt fill m with any confidence so I walked away. Its also rattled and knocked alot on test drive.

JBM, thank you for the advice. In the time I've been looking - almost a year now! - I've done a lot of further reading on these cars and I would agree with what you say. The white motors are definitely the most common, and less seem to come in CS spec (not fussed on that anyway). The white cars are a sticking point for me - I like the look of them but personally wouldn't own one.

How do you like your GT2 vs your ex GT3? Would be nice to hear from someone who has owned, and by the sound of it used both cars properly.

Interesting what you say about white as a colour, I always swore that I'd never own a white car (thinking it a colour reserved solely for domestic appliances!) but I've grown to love it. It's MUCH easier than black to look after and surprisingly doesn't seem to show small amounts of dirt very much.

Compared to the GT3 (bear in mind mine was a Gen 1 so some of the differences were addressed in Gen 2 GT3), I find the GT2 a better all-round car. It is quick on track and feels very like a GT3 but with loads more torque and a beautifully even throttle response. It still lacks the 'fizz' of that fantastic GT3 engine and the wonderful noise (the GT2 sounds more like several Dysons running on steroids!), but overall it's a delightful track car. I'm no 'driving god' but I happily turn all the aids off on track and find the car very predictable and honest to drive.

On the road that torque makes it a more relaxing car to drive - overtaking is superb in any gear (it's very easy to add too much speed!) and the car flows over bumps rather than being upset by them. We use the car on holidays a lot and find it to be comfortable and surprisingly practical - if you have the folding buckets you can fit a huge amount behind the roll cage and about the only downside for holiday use is the low ground clearance as per any GT car.

Anyway good luck - as you've discovered they seem to be relatively rare, especially in non-white!

Agree wholeheartedly with John, the GT2 is a cracking car and, in spite of it being focussed, we did a wonderful 2K round trip with the Register in 2008 in the mountain passes and Judy even managed to pack in 12 days' luggage around the roll cage.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with lift and ground clearance can be a bit of problem over courtyards and the like. Also, road noise can be a bit intrusive - the Cup tyres don't last very long either. [&:]

Regards,

Clive.

Fantastic short review. Can't wait to get my hands on one when the right car comes along. I think the torque is what appeals to me the most (vs GT3)

Please let me know if anyone knows of a potential sale.

Seems pricey but I thought I'd list it anyway

Going by the line up in your sig, I'm sure you'll understand the turbo doesn't quite push the buttons in the way the gt2 does...
