Wanted C2

Photo's do make a huge difference to the sale of a car. I have a used car business and we take great pride in the photo's we take, right down to the lighting conditions (weather permitting)!! We usually put up 9 photos of each car(standard Autotrader limit) and take pictures from all sides and at least 2 of the interior. We also take about 5 shots from each position and then sit down and pick the best ones once they are on the PC.

We have had customers state that they came to see the car because our pictures stood out from the competition.

A mate of mine was trying to sell his boxster a couple of years back. He had had it advertised for about 8 months with only a couple of time-wasters showing interest. It was a nice one too with GT3 alloys, Hard top, leather, and Main Dealer history. In the end we offered to advertise it for him. We valeted it and took it up to a big public country house a couple of miles away and took loads of photos in the lovely settings there. I put together an appeling ad and Bingo, it was sold within 2 weeks to the first person who came.

Doesn't always work like that, but it definately helps [;)]

Hi Colin.
Apologies, i hadn't meant to offend [&:] . hadn't realised you were selling! neither have i seen your advert. I think you may have missed my point [;)].

As you rightly say people looking for a particular model of car already now what to expect regarding standard equipment, which is my point exactly and therefore why mention it. If if the car is a standard genuine model it can still be worded in a way that can read as an attractive car to a prospective buyer, including all the things that you as an enthusiast would be looking for.

Chris's (Ferdifatcat) example of what to write is a perfect example of what i would see as a compelling advert, which would attract me and no doubt others to make an enquiry [;)]

... and Simon (Sifly) has a proven example with his mates Boxster!

Best of luck with your sale Colin and good luck with your search Chris

Colins car looks a nice honest and standard car (which are becomming hard to find). Original wheels, suspension, front indicators and steering wheel. More and more people are looking for factory standard 964's now they are becomming a bit of a classic. Owned for 8 years, with an average mileage of less than 7,000 per year too!!

And it's in the best colour too.......[;)]

It is and it is!![:D]

Paul,
No offence taken-my Pistonheads ad was my 1st attempt at using them-the photo,s were in the wrong order & that of the interior was "bluish"-the flash must not have fired-and the laptop battery was running out,so it was all a rush.
As I am not not a trader, quite frankly it doesn't bother me one iota,as I live in a stately like home I don't intend rushing off down the road just to take photos & I thought I would see what would happens.
My ad in PP was similar format to many others-there isn't much room to do much else.
Anyway, next attempt will mention how much the cat likes it,how much we will cry when it sells & possibly how really nice it looks gracing its place in the garage[:)]

Strange how things change, at the risk of making myself really unpopular on here ive decided to throw a few more pennies at it and go for a 993. So im off to lurk over there now. Thanks.

Ferdifatcat - hang in there

I bought my Horizon Blue C2 Tiptronic about 8 weeks ago which involved flying from Leeds to Bristol!

I tried regularly exploring all sorts of places on the web - these are both quite good sites and away from the mainstream - you may pick a bargain up.

You'll probably have better luck finding the right 993 because colours like red and white weren't so popular. Plenty of boring colours to choose from though! [:-]
