WARNING !!!!! PAS Pump Power Assisted Steering switch..LOOM RISK

ORIGINAL: jellytott OPC price of loom £900 + VAT so checking other sources !!!
The only ones that I'm aware of are the ones by Lindsey that I gave the link to earlier, I stand to be corrected if looms are now available from other sources.... Pete

Hi Pete I've emailed Lindsey about a loom and if do a version for the 944S too, if not so with a bit of luck the stock 944 loom will fit but minus the 2 cables that would have gone to the PAS switch gets me going again, I probably go with this I could always run two cable to said switch keeping a future owner happy if they want to re-instate it. Oddly, I checked with Porsche and my car has 2 outstanding recalls on it still they have the codes/information on one (fuel inline routing) but not the other, I know the mod for the PAS intails fitting a inline fuse protecting for shorts so it looks highly likely on my vehicle it was un-modified verson, so it will be interesting what comes back on this and if its covered ??? I'm not going in to remove the loom yet until I've got my options covered....so the Jury out on this.

Well, got down to the dirty, chased back the burnt out cables in the DME loom had to replace 5 with new cables:for the Oil sender(2), oil level(1)and then 2 for the PAS Switch, these for the PAS run in but not connected for obvious reasons!!

The 5 cables burnt out remained fused together for the lenght of the DME loom right up to where it goes into the rubber boot entering the bulkhead, it appears because the cables not so compact there so the damage stopped in comparision to the condensed cables in the heat sleeve sections (ie from the senders up the front of engine along the top of the engine beneath Manifolds) the other bad section was at the back of the engine near where the heater hose enters via the bulkhead, as it got a sharp bend there these had melted and was firmly bonded to various other cables there but I managed to carefully seperate them also thankyou Porsche glueing 3" of cable with strong glue as it enters rubber boot!

Strangely the Oil Sender ( blue + Blue/White) go left directly to the instrument cluster, where as the 3 remaining cable for PAS and Oil level continue going right into the Rubber Boot and then to the ECU unit.

Luckily, for me although 5 melted but didn't burn into other cables just firmly glued to them.

Oh yes inspected the vacuum lines these were fine but replaced the AOS seals.

SHE LIVES AND RUNS AGAIN [:)]
