Are you a white van man as well as a TT driver? Seems that you have the best of both worlds. Do you sometimes wish, that whichever you are in ,that you were in the other one?

[/quote] Well, if is £30.00 to fit two wiperblades I am in the wrong job!! I take mine off frequently when washing the car, it takes about 30 seconds a side including cleaning and inspecting them! As for fitting a battery I have never heard of anyone charging (no pun intended) to fit one.

Porsche charge to fit the battery. I was told "they do all sorts of tests" I said I could undo 2 small clamps and a retaining nut just fine, thanks [:D]

True! It was even a seperate item on the bill Something like (I can't remember exact numbers): [blockquote] Battery £120 Battery Acid £18[/blockquote] They charge it as well. But that is all part of the overall part cost. If you get them to fit it they charge nearly an hour labour [] Hence the £258 on the service pricing schedule.

This is really a joke isn't it? I have never heard of a battery being quoted for uncharged and without acid .Frankly an hour for fitting is also a joke as is an hourly rate of (I assume £120.00) for such a low grade task! What do they charge for checking the tyres?!? (First time I have been pleased to lose the spare, jack and wheel brace which came with my C4S ! It would probably take two hours to ge the spare checked having to move the tools!)

Labour rates can be up to approx £180/hour once you add VAT[X(] Having said that to give a little balance, I have so far, always had excellent servcice from my OPC and they have often wavied things they could have tried to charge for if they were "nickle and diming"

I do believe that everyone has to make a living but it is apalling and immoral to charge full technician rates for minor unskilled tasks. Most of the "add on" services I decline like car washing and collect and return. (I wash my car by hand usually once a week and I don't like other people touching or driving it) I am really fed up with the attitude that Porsche owners are rich therefore can afford it! I could go on but it hurts too much! Perhaps the recession will put an end to such practises.

If you have a flat (faulty) battery, Porsche Assistance (part of the Warranty) will come out and, if necessary, replace it with an approved newly commissioned battery for about £150 (on a Boxster).

Surely during the first two years if faulty (as opposed to just flat) the battery is still under warranty and should be replaced free! If it is extended warranty I do not know what the situation is as I have never bothered before and doubt I will this time either when my 2 years are up.

Try Partco - they sell the rubbers for £3 a pair - you have to cut them to length & fit them of course - but it puts things in perspective. At that price I guess they buy them in at 75p each. So the part that actually wears is 75p worth - takes a giant leap for man to get to £51 - or even £21!! Isn't capitalism wonderful! No names no pack drill, but a (very) well known manufacturer of trainers has an ex-factory cost PER PAIR of less that 90 cents - these will retail at over $100!! Makes the world go 'round!
