Washing after Zymol

ORIGINAL: ianfiat

So meguiars next generation car wash should be fine ? - Great that'll save me some money.

Not sure about that - it's not the same...
I was thinking more Maguires Gold Class.

Or you can use Johnsons Baby Bath as Kish points out[:)]

What's wrong with plain luke warm water! [&o]

It doesn't contain any soap to lubricate and lift off the dirt - so more likely to scratch.
If you wash it every day like you do then probably not an issue [;)]

Wow thats a relief for a moment there I thought I was in serious trouble and my car would be classed as not up to scratch [:D]

The Reg "Whos MCS" .. is it "who is MCS".. and then the question remains Who is MCS ?

And the park .. Regents ???

So the Johnson's baby bath was a serious answer ?
The reason I want to get away from Zymol clear is that its so expensive, a bottle lasts me about a month, so would cost me about £200 per year to wash the car every week- I already use Field Glaze after every wash and that lasts me about a month too.

How do you manage to wash a car with water alone ? The hardest thing I find about washing a car round here (Oxfordshire) is getting the water completely off after washing and not getting loads of calcium salt marks- hence why I use Field glaze every week.

Yes, Johnson's baby bath is great for when it is not very dirty... PH neutral, no more tears... [;)]

Yes [:)]

How are you using so much? []
Are you doing a Daro911 and washing every(other) day?
A bottle of Clear (Or the Swissvax equivalent) lasts me ages. I wonder if you are using too much? If memory serves the directions on the bottle say to use far far more than I do.

If you find you need to use a lot when washing the car have you considered claying the next time you wax? (Before you wax). You will find that the car is so smooth that very little sticks and it becomes so much easier to wash the dirt off. [:)]

good greif, how much are you using? we don't get through that much on 4 cars (all kept very clean)
if the cars covered in a good layer of wax then the water will just fall off.. so just need to buff the car dry using microfibre cloths then finish with a quick wipe over with field Glaze.

if you follow the real keenies you will use deionized water as the final rinse and then a cold blower to remove the water-i`mafraid i am not that anal so use the water as mentioned then chamois it off.however if you use the zymol as i do-304 coats of the stuff every 2-3 months water usually beads off nicely and just a quick drive usually clears most of it[:D]

I wash the car every week and I use a couple of squirts per bucket- I do use the car every day.

I didn't clay the car last time I waxed it- I will next time though.

The water does bead nicely, then the beads evaporate and leave marks behind.

Couple of squrts is probably too much.
You just want to make the water "wetter" - if you are wahing it every week then the dirt isn't getting too much chance to build up anyway.

There is also the possibility when using lots of car wash that the wax can be removed (yes I know that it is all Zymol [;)] )

When you rinse, try rinsing the car off with the hose as usual, then turn the tap right down and hold the hose close to the body and let the water run on to it without causing a spray - the water will "sheet" off and very littl will remain to be mopped up.

Use a microfibre drying towel, and a smaller microfibre wipe straight after for the last remaining film.
