water coming into the cabin

ORIGINAL: elliotw
How do I get a rev range readout done? Do I need to go to an OPC dealership/will it cost more money?
If you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berkshire) I would be happy to do it for you.

Thanks very much for the offer Richard - I am in NW London (Hampstead) so unfortuantely a little too far from Maidenhead.

Half a tank of fuel in 105 miles doesnt sound like its been driven gently.

But what about the water ingress - has that been sorted?

A business is only as good as its weakest link, the garage may be excellent but just one person can ruin the reputation - as appears to have happened with your experience.
I dont know what i would be satisfied with from them to aleiviate the anger i would feel, and certainly would never use them again.

Your original bill was for them curing the leak - clearly they failed - therefore they havent honoured their side of the contract - get your money back or get the water leak (if you still have the problem) fixed elsewhere and present them the bill for it. (one or the other - your choice)

Compensation for your fuel and something in addition as they used your car like a hire car for the days they had it.
Compensation for your travel costs you incurred whilst they used your car as a hire car for the week.
A written appology.

Go online and do your best to highlight the garages failures, poor work, misuse of your car - damage their reputation as thoroughly as you can but make sure you tell the truth and back that up with the evidence you have - this avoids libel.

Work out what compensation will satisfy you and if they do not step up to the mark then use the small claims court, easy cheap and only need to prove on the balance of probabilities.
What about trade review sites?.

I feel the anger for you

Ok guys....here's the latest, and your advice would be much appreciated, as always.

I took it to an OPC garage. They say they have done an initial water leak test on the car and cannot find a leak. There is no charge for this initial check.

Given they cannot find the leak, they said the next step is to strip the car to dry it and carry on water leak testing so they can gain some visual evidenace. They say the technician requires 4 hours at £140 + VAT an hour...that's £672 just to diagnose the problem (and even then it may not yield anything I guess). Bear in mind I have already spent close to £500 trying to fix this...

They mentioned that there is a rear drain under where the roof sits that they want to check and that sometimes this rear drain can be punctured during the process of cleaning it out, causing the leak.

Advice?

Thanks

Elliot

Why dont you lift the roof half way so you can see the wire straps, pop them off and gently push the roof
up,then try and have a look yourself
